I heard about the movie the Martian where Matt Damon has to survive on Mars by himself by growing plants and stuff. I was wondering why there aren't classes to teach survival skills like growing plants or foraging as those could be useful at some point in life, if not just interesting. There are a lot of "preppers" and I think those classes would fill up quickly because people are interested in that subject.
I agree with jtab, Survival training is a part of boy scouts. http://www.scouting.org/scoutsource/...s/mb-WILD.aspx I'm not so sure with GS, but maybe at summer camps. Venture Scouts (co-ed Boy Scouts for teens to 21 year olds) would for sure have it too. Venturing Or just plain tent camping. I camped a lot growing up and as a young adult - nothing like camping to teach you some survival trips.
