Has anyone seen their newscast recently? How are they still on? Why did Channel 9 take over KDBC news. What a horrible decision that is turning out to be. Even though their news is taped earlier, the anchors especially Adrianne Alvarez has struggled many times during the evening newscasts. It almost seems like the teleprompter isn't working. Thats how bad it is. In my opinion they need to either completely shut down KDBC or find another company to take over management and completely start over from scratch in which they can get a new studio to hiring new anchors and reporters.

KTSM did not technically buy or take over KDBC. Communications Corporation of American, which owns KTSM, bought KDBC. Same result though. KTSM now runs KDBC. The reason all of this happened is because KDBC went bankrupted. Here is a good article on it.

This just in: KDBC pre-tapes newscasts (http://elpasoinc.com/readArticle.aspx?issueid=266&xrec=4834 - broken link)

if you watch both newscasts simultaneously, they have the same exact script.

Most people in El Paso want CBS programming there, don't they?

We still get CBS programming. That will not change. Only the local affiliate station was purchased. The parent company now owns an NBC affiliate (KTSM) and a CBS affiliate (KDBC) in El Paso. Even if something were to happened to KDBC, someone else would become the CBS affiliate. There is a number of other stations that would probably drop Spanish programming if the CBS affiliation became available.
