Just wondering what ever happened to the ascarate master plan? Has it been trashed or is it still in the works? Any new info would be great.

Could you describe this master plan? I'm not familiar with it.

If they brought back Western Playland there, with an IMAX theater, that would be great, but that park only has so much space. (Plenty of space out in Santa Teresa.) If they're going to extend Airway Boulevard to the Cesar Chavez Border Highway, they'll probably take some of the eastern edge of the park to build it, or they'll have to tear some people's houses down.

Default recent visit

I recently went to Ascarate and was amazaed at the potential of the place. What I was not amazed at was that it wasn't being used. Most cities of our size have a large city/county park that is the centerpiece for QOL that the area has to offer. There is so much that can be done with the area, but as true to form El Paso's "leaders" have not been proactive or done anything to plan for El Paso's future or growth. The park could really be a attraction here in the city if utlized correctly. I think it is really time to look at the people we vote (only 2% of the voting population votes anyeay) into office at the city and county level. If they don't have a plan other than they don't plan to raise taxes (which is good) we need to look somewhere else.
