The EP Times poll released today has Mayor Cook leading all 5 of his challengers by a 3 to 1 margin with the election less than a month away. If he wins re-election he'd only be the 4th mayor to do that in the last 40 years.

EP Times Poll
Cook 48.1%
Unsure 34.9%
Haddad 8.2%
Catucci 2.6%
Henderson 2.6%
Rivera 2.2%
Mendez 1.4

MOST IN El PASO FAVOR JOHN COOK: Mayor close to winning a 2nd term, poll finds - El Paso Times

I don't know if I feel like this.......or this......; or, maybe this...... Needless to say, I am not a John Cook supporter but I don't think there's a strong, viable opponent running against him.

So, guess it's more of the same.

Cook is in a incumbent mayor who hasn't made any major mistakes, hasn't been involved in any scandals and isn't divisive. In any city he'd be a shoo-in. Opponents can only win by attacking and showing that the incumbent is a screw up.

I'm still checking out everyone. Not too crazy about Henderson. And I'm not a big fan of Cook either.

They took the last poll before this saturday's election (may 9) and it shows Mayor Cook pulling away from any other challengers. However that being said he know's better than anyone about being down as he lost to mayor Wardy to finish in second place in the initial vote and after the runoff between them two Cook came back to defeat Wardy and become the mayor.

Should be interesting this saturday.
