Bill White is definately a conservative Democrat - and he was a damn good mayor.

So the Republicans are going to insure millionaires get lower taxes, the social security trust fund will be hollowed out, endangering our retirements, all on the backs of the unemployed... The Republicans held us hostage and won again. The Republicans have all the wrong ideas and are quite good at getting them done. Sad...real sad.

the Republicans held the poor Democrats hostage, who is still in power? Last I heard the new congress doesn't take over for another 4 or 5 weeks. Now, as for the seniors and SS fund, if the government would keep their hands off the fund and stop using it for anything and everything, or if they would have stopped years ago, we wouldn't have the mess we have now.

After strong-arming the extension of the Bush Tax Cuts for the wealthiest Americans, the Republicans in Congress voted-down giving the disabled/seniors a one-time $250. payment to compensate for no Social Security COLA rise in 2 years, stating that 'the country can't afford it. Once again, 'welfare' for the rich, and society's most-vulnerable citizens can 'kiss-off'.

P.S.
It was ALL of the Republicans. A few lily-livered Dems went along ,too, and they should go.

So why aren't they producing the 'job creation' Sean Hannity and the other corporate puppets say they should??

And most of the wealthy Wall Street types, don't create jobs with their wealth, which is gained by trading paper money...they instead invest their money over seas...

The trader wealthy types, the Federal Reserve wealthy types, are strip mining America...

But People like Rush and Sean and Glenn keep their listeners in a utter state of stupidity that they actually think the wealthy care about them...what a joke...
Democrats like Kennedy and Republicans like Reagan all knew keeping taxes lower produced money to the treasury and made people hungry to work and make money.
What you are leaving out of the equation is the massive expansion of the size and cost of government and their over employed, overpaid and over compensated retirements that are about to sink us.
Then you have all the people who refuse to work or work only gray markets or are straight up on the dole.
We are a Democratic Capitalistic Republic based on small government and massive freedoms for individuals but we have the cancer of socialism eating our insides out.

I didn't think Bush's prescription med program was good either.

The cost of renting went down, most people took a pay cut in the real world, and with no money how do you propose to give another $250 away.
At least that top 2% people who everyone want to vilify pay almost all the payroll taxes in the country. It's not like they should have their taxes raised to the point they stop their economic activity, because those are your employers, investors and are the people who make us go.
You can have all the wonderful people in the world who are willing to dig a hole, but the one who employs them who provides a reason and place to dig that hole should IMO be considered friends, not foe IMO.

Default Socialism is an out dated, imaginary term...

The model you use is a chalk board, 'Leave it to Beaver' model...government and business has grown much complex since those days...

Another important element is 'human nature'...

Or the 'nature of man'...which is basically 'sinful' or 'corrupt'...(at least that's what the bible says)...

So this idea that some how that 'nature', the nature of corruption, will some how not excert it'self on the 'Capitol' side of Democracy...is unrealistic and unprooven...

For if there's a way to exploit and take advantage of, man will do it...whether through Government or Capitolism....

It all eventually comes down to greed and power...regardless of what system is implemented...

I mean look at Capitolism in the early years of this nation, before the government stepped in and established all sorts of fair labour practices...

Capitolist...(I'm not talking about mom and pop stores)...but capitolist are not 'sweet angels from heaven'...there bottom line is profit, not patriotism...

And if they can make that profit in China or Mexico instead of here, they will up and leave...like they've been doing in droves lately...

What goes on in the traders market/commodities market is very different from trade and barter type of simplistic capitolsm your refering to...

The traders market is a totally different world, where corruption runs rampant, where fake money is traded, lowered or artifiscally inflated...

And socialism is an outdated term...there is no socialist around today in Government...

People don't care about socialism anymore...what people care about is money, power, and greed...

Corporations and Government more and more, collaborate together to get this done...

There is no line drawn between the two anymore...

Corporations influence government, to create conditions more favorable for their growth...which often involves mandating the sale of certain items or services...

Or tax breaks, or labour rules ect ect...

But that wealth generated by ceo's who take in 10 million dollar bonuses...in no way shape or form helps me or you...there not even thinking about us...

Socialism is a comic book, talk radio, term now...created to artifiscally divide citizens, while both those in Government and Corporate America continue to take more and more for themselves, and leave less and less for us...

And in the mean time people like Rush and Sean have their listeners looking out for these imaginary socialist running around...

What a smart scheme...'Keep your eyes off of us, and instead focus on these imaginary socialist'....

The rich have benefitted nore since W took office than at any other time in history, so don't go there. The rich are just fine. The middle class has dwindled and the poor are in worse shape. There is a class war in this country and it is being supported by the Republicans, Limbaugh, Beck, Fox News, the oil companies, and pharmaceuticlas, etc. If you are going to keep supporting them then you are part of the problem, too.

I am a senior and we are on a small fixed income. We mainly live on SS plus some investments and a couple of small and I mean small retirements, plus my husband has a pet sitting, part time business and I am a part time Travel agent, so you dont have to remind me about the $250. That being said, there is a reason we haven't gotten a raise in 2 years: A formula was put into effect about 5 or 10 years ago and our raises are based on Cost of Living or call it inflation. Anyway, 2 years ago we got a very large increase as the gas costs along affected the cost of living as we all know. Because of that and rate being too high, plus almost no inflation the past 2 years we received no increase. Do I like it? Of course not. Would we have found a use for our $250 each? sure, but do I understand? Yes, everyone of us has to learn to give up a little here and there. This was what the seniors had to give up. I have no problem with this.

Kirby seems to think that the affluent don't deserve to keep what they earn. Only people of lesser incomes get to keep what they earn. In Kirby's opinion.

Do you really think you want to start a discussion of what you think is fair Kirby?

You will be denounced by the American majority every time.

So, with that in mind .... your voice is much smaller than you think.

California seems to hate the rest of us responsible citizens. You fly against American thought to the highest degree. But, once you ( California ) fail; and you already have....

You expect the rest of America to BAIL YOU OUT.

Knock it off. The United States of America does not owe you anything. You made the mess ... get out of it yourselves ... Kirby.
