Yet, you follow with this.

I am simply tired of the "third party" celebrity politicians of the year, or in this case a politician who might as well be a third party candidate because he is so outside the mainstream of his own party that any hope for governance is a pure illusion.
As I said, you put forth a great argument for the status quo.

If people really want alternatives to the two parties, for whatever reason, they are going to have to do the hard and sustained work of party building, i.e, winning a sizable number of seats in both houses and having to build effective coalitions if they don't enjoy workable majorities.
Keep living in your fantasy. After 8 years of Bush/Cheney disasters combined with 6 years of GOP majority Congress, you would figure that Dems would alter the landscape and completely eras the GOP from the margin.

Seriously, what has changed? Most of the time I can't distinguish between Bush and Obama.

However, what did Dems do? They undermined their own party, any worthwhile progressive movement, and have empowered one of the most wretched and maniacal GOPs I have ever seen.

You can't have it both ways. You can't claim that he will be ineffective and now proclaim that any any who hasn't notice Ron Paul working across the aisle has been asleep for the past 2.5 years. That is quite a schizophrenic stance.

What happened to the old, "Its better to be over the hill than under it" attitude???

Despite this poll I suspect we can continue to watch the MSM, FOX included, ignore Dr. Paul's ranking in this poll and refuse to mention his name altogether.
Fact is in past elections nobody really cared much about the deficit and monetary issues. This is on the forefront now. Paul will destroy any and all during the debates with common sense and reality while they yoyo's yammer off their usual canned responses. That could push him over the top. It will be interesting to see how they try and keep him out of the debates.

If age issues come up then he should guarantee he will only be a one term president. Show us how to fix it and then get out of the way and if the next guy doesn't do it the way he sets it up then it's all on him and he'll be a one termer too.

Not certain that is a good comparison. Paul certainly has a pair to stand up alone for the Constitution as long as he has. Those without a pair fold to the status quo with regularity.

The only thing worse than an ardent GOP/DNC supporter is a person who sees a candidate they like but does not support him because they don't think he/she can win. Truly selling out one' beliefs in favor of 'the odds.'
