I sure would. I'd even favor that if the candidate seemed to be excellent leadership material.

We are electing a PRESIDENT, not a pope.

We need a leader that functions in the realm of logic and reality, not fiction.

In fairness to his Holiness, would be more like an evangelical zealot we'd be getting.

Absolutely. I'd prefer an atheist.

No, I couldn't vote for someone who doesn't believe in a mystical figure in the sky that has never been proven to exist.

Haha! I would prefer someone who makes decisions based on logic, not fantasy.

The point is that it shouldn't matter what a Presidential candidate's religious beliefs (or lack thereof) are, and discussing them shouldn't even enter into the conversation.

I'm an atheist, and would have no problem with anyone, including an atheist being President, provided that their personal beliefs remained personal. I wouldn't want an atheist pushing his beliefs any more than a Christian pushing his.

Nope couldn't do it. I prefer the President to be a person of faith. I don't want a leader who is only accountable to man.
