you could be right about that, but it might make a good ticket. Of course, as most of us know, the likely VP candidate is rarely picked: Palin, Chaney, Quayle, Geraldine Farraro, to mention a few.

Little doubt Mitt will be the nominee. He's just sitting back waiting for Michael Bachmann and Rip Parry, chew each other up.

I agree. Most people who aspire to the position of President of the United States have very little interest in playing second-fiddle to the person who dashed their dreams of attaining that goal.

A rule in Presidential running mate choice is never never pick a potential running mate who is a stronger and more telegenic candidate than the top man on the Ticket. This can be difficult for some potential US Presidents. This was the mistake Micheal Dukakis made. This is why we get such great VP picks like Richard Nixon,Hubert H. Humphry,Walter Mondale or Spiro Agnew not to mention Dan Quayle.

I would agree with you. I can understand a Pres way of thinking, they wouldn't want a VP that would outshine them. It is a long story how Ford ended up with the nomination in 1976. I won't do into it, but it had to do with this very issue.

Since 1945 the VP position has been a valuable launching pad for a sucessful or even unsucessful Presidential bid. Former VPs who either were elected President or were their parties nominee include Harry Truman, Richard Nixon, Lyndon Johnson, Hubert H Humphry, Jerry Ford, Fritz Mondale, George H.W. Bush and Al Gore.

The fact that Romney is Mormon is and always will be an issue with people. Especially so in regards to people on that side of the political spectrum, who tend to not be quite so tolerant of these sorts of differences. (Let's cut the crap) So that's going to immediately make the claws come out (again) for some. Also the fact that he's much more of a Wall St/CEO/Park Avenue type Republican who isn't particularly folksy or charming in retail political settings like town halls and county fairs is going to play against him.

I think your average low-information, hot-button voter with the short memory will find the ruggedly handsome, rootin' tootin' Christian cowboy from Texas to be the one they ultimately fawn over, even if they've vaguely seen it all before. The reluctant Romney voters were waiting for this guy.
