Paul Ryan for President in 2012? - FoxNews.com

Quote:
Stephen Hayes reports in the WEEKLY STANDARD that Congressman Paul Ryan, R-Wis., is "strongly considering a run for president," and has been quietly meeting with political strategists over the past three months to discuss a possible White House bid. Hayes also writes that Ryan is presently on vacation in Colorado where he is discussing the subject with his family.

Monday night, Fox News Contributor Karl Rove was on FOX News with Sean Hannity and said of the Republican 2012 field, "I think (New Jersey Governor) Chris Christie and Paul Ryan are going to look at it again ... I'm starting to pick up some sort of vibrations that ... Christie and Ryan [are telling] the people who are calling them, 'You know what, I owe it to you, I'll take a look at it.'"

This could be some very good news. Eitherr Christie or Ryan look like better candidates than the current R pool (with the possible exception of Ron Paul). Both have the smarts and the backbone for the job, and don't seem to wrap themselves in religious baggage. This could get interesting...

IMO, either would demolish Obama in a debate.

Ryan should run for president because if he runs for his seat again, we are going to beat him.

Paul Ryan's plan to eliminate Medicare and Social Security makes him unelectable. Even Republicans don't like that idea.

The fat one from New Jersey doesn't fare any better either. He is very hotheaded and chauvinistic. Also doing things like taking a helicopter to his son's baseball game at the state's expense has made him very unpopular in the garden state and would make a great ad for the Democrats to run against him in the general.

Don't panic. It's way too early to be campaigning and the smart people know that.

Smart candidates will continue to assess the conditions in the US, look for potential solutions and then throw their hat into the ring in December, which is when the presidential campaign traditionally kicks off.

I would love to see Ryan address a group of seniors. Tomatoes, anyone? If he is lucky they will refrain from throwing rotten ones!

You have no idea what you're talking about. The only people in NJ that don't like him are the Lefties. Also, you should catch up on the news about that helicopter ride you're talking about. It didn't cost the tax payer a dime.

The Ryan thing is interesting. It seems the Bush family are leaning on him to run because they dont like Rick Perry.
