Over the years I’ve sometimes been asked by supporters of Ron Paul why I don’t take him more seriously despite my own libertarian leanings on many issues. One of the reasons was on display in Monday’s GOP debate in Florida, namely Paul’s penchant for blaming the U.S. for the murderous hostility of Islamic jihadists.
Quote:
In Paul’s view, apparently, every foreign intervention is equally vile, no matter who the intervening country might support or what that country’s motives might be. His moral equivalence is ugly.

And people take this guy seriously? Amazing.

ron paul speaks honestly. I really dont understand why these other canditates cant have a grown-up conversation. looking for motive is not the same thing as making excuses. We need to speak frankly and openly about the reality of the situation. Paul seems the only one who wants to do that.

The only frank and open discussion we need to have is this: The terrorists who planned and executed 9/11 are responsible for 9/11. Period. Not one American is responsible, contrary to what "Dr. Paul" and his leftwing supporters want to believe.

Yes the terrorists are responsible and again no one is making excuses for them or their barbarism. What they did was horrible and we took appropriate action by initially seeking out the one responsible - Bin Laden.

Paul's point is that our foreign policy is flawed and this has led to people resenting the United Sates. It's unreasonable not to expect people to grow resentful when we bomb countries, support police states, and impose harmful sanctions. He has used the term blowback a lot.

Take Iran as an example.

1. I think your thread title is misleading
2. If your country got carpet bombed by the US, its leader and government overthrown by the US and then the new dictator that the US installed oppresses his people, you don't think people are going to get mad at us?

What is amazing is how you don't understand foreign policy and try to form an opinion about a topic you have no clue of.

I can't believe some Americans (like you) are so naive as to think we were attacked because terrorists hate our "freedom" or "way of life." Terrorists attacked us because we have been meddling in the middle east for decades. That isn't an opinion-- that is what the terrorists SAID.

It is hell, being the rulers of the world, isn't it.

Sometimes the servants get out of line. Can't have that.

So what is with all these Anti-Paul threads you keep starting? If you believe the polls, he is at 10%, he no threat the the GOP establishment, don't worry!

The terrorists are responsible for 9/11, of course. They did it and they deserve to die for what they did. But why did they pick the U.S., why not Canada, Switzerland, Japan or any other free democracy? Since the talking points on this is they attacked us because they hate our way of life, our freedoms.

If you really believe we have the right to go anywhere we want in the world and do whatever we want, and their is not going to be consequences for those actions, you are very naive.

And folks take this anti Paul posting seriously...
Amazing

Start posting on who you do support, and why
Being a libertarian myself, I'm very curious
about a "libertarian leaner" who doesn't like Paul
and who they would support out of the rest of the GOP candidates ...
minus Gary Johnson - that's an easy one
