The only one who benefits from this debate is Trump. There is no reason for the Republican field to cater to this man's ego. I am glad most have declined.

Trump proves the maxim that all the money in the world can't give a man class.

Out of a hundred good choices of moderators, whey in the world did they choose a Trump? We all know what he is and how serious he was in his brief flirtation with candidacy. Everyone up on the podium will have an axe to grind against him and vice versa. This was the most ludicrous thing to happen this year, and just makes this series of Repub debates look to be completely non-serious to the less interested viewers. Somebody ought to get fired over this decision.
Why not take a radical new step and let a REAL American working class person be the moderator...you know, the folks who actually BUILT this country, the ones suffering under the pressures of the Bush/Obama economy now,the ones who are working poor with no insurance...how about letting one of those millions upon millions of real Americans get a shot at asking some REAL questions and avoid all the fluff.

Talking Palin Endorses Trump Debate, Urges Candidates to Join

The former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate made her endorsement in an interview to air Wednesday night on the Fox Business Network. Palin’s endorsement is the latest high-profile conservative to support the debate set for Dec. 27.

"I think candidates should not be afraid in front of the nation no matter who the host of the debate is,” Palin said. “What is a bit appealing about this idea of Trump hosting a debate is, consider the diverse audience that perhaps he can attract. It's important that independents and those who are not obsessed with inside-baseball partisan politics, which is most of us, we'd like to hear more of the message of each one of these candidates and perhaps Donald Trump will be able to attract a diverse demographic that maybe has not been as interested in this horse race thus far.

"America needs to wake up to what is going on under Obama's socialist policies and how he will bankrupt the country. I'm looking at the debate as a positive thing because of that fact."

Ralph Reed’s Faith and Freedom Coalition is on board along with Grover Norquist's Americans for Tax Reform (ATR), and the American Conservative Union (ACU), chaired by Al Cardenas, which sponsors the annual Conservative Political Action Conference. Both ATR and ACU are sponsors for the debate.

Just for sh*ts and giggles, I think Sarah should go ahead and put her debating shoes on and join the discussion. She'd have a lot of solid input.

unless there has been a change in the past few hours, most have not declined: 3 have and 3 have not with Perry not responding one way or the other.

Looks like Perry is out. How much longer before it gets canceled due to lack of interest?

So far only Newt and Santorum have accepted. This might be interesting: the most socially conservative, family values candidate vs. his exact moral opposite.

I love this idea a debate with hardly no moderation and questions by the people. The only purpose of the mod is to keep the answers time limited and to break up out of turn squabbles. I would want the questions to be vetted to avoid such stupidity of boxers or briefs?

Or hair care products in this particular GOP debate.
