While promoting his new book during an interview on ABC's "Good Morning America," Monday, the former Minnesota governor said that "if Ron Paul runs as an independent, I will give great consideration to being his running mate."

Jesse Ventura wants to be Ron Paul's 2012 running mate - Andy Barr - POLITICO.com

I remember hearing about this from a while back. Since Paul is running as a R, I hope this leaves Jessie out of it. I am for Dr. Paul but I think that adding him would really hurt Dr. Paul in an election.

Lets hear some thoughts on this.

I like Jesse, but he's a bit too full of himself.

And his views would turn off a lot of people in a national election.

No Ventura. Paul needs to pick as close to an establishment figure as he can stomach.

Yeah, Ventura would be trouble...I think the logical choice would have to be Gary Johnson.

He makes Trump seem like a pleasant, nice, level minded average American guy and that is pretty hard to do. He said, not too long ago (about 2 weeks ago) he was thinking of leaving the country as I remember, but I don't remember the story. He is a complete nut case and would ruin any chance Paul had of winning anything.

I can assure you, personally, as much as I have always said, I would vote for Paul if he got the nomination: if Ventura was on the ballot I would not.

Funny thing is that I totally agree with you abut Ventura, but considering our current VP I'd have no problem with this.

btw: I just checked, no he disn't say he would leave the country: he said he has no patiotism left and he would not longer stand for the Anthum or say the pledge, it was one or the other. I can't remember which.

Yes, he did say he would leave and go to Mexico. It was something about his Airport / TSA lawsuit. I do remember that too. Look around end of October to beginning of November.

Ventura would all but seal the liberal vote away from Obama, but would likely turn away the independents and others that would otherwise vote for Paul. If he does decide to run as a 3rd party (and I doubt it) the only rational running mate for him would be Gary Johnson.
