I have not, but my father was a councilman for years in our little suburban Pittsburgh town. My dad's cousin was a county judge. My uncle was an assessor for some years. I was too busy raising a family. Maybe when I retire I'll think about it. I have attended many council meetings and spoken up about issues.

No, but my third cousin ran for Senate on the Grass Roots ticket in Vermont. He was in the Federal pen at the time so his campaigning was rather limited. He still got 2% of the vote. He will get out in 2013 when his 27 year sentence is up. I expect him to pick up where he left off, both politically and smuggling wise.

wow, 100K, what a jerk. Yes, it is expensive to run, even for local office. One of the things hubby ran for was county commissioner. He spent months going door to door and a lot more money than you spent, but in the end, he lost to a liberal (who btw was a professional politician and as dishonest as they come) by about 3%. He won the primary hands down, getting 65% of the vote to a lifelong resident of the county who's dad had been a leading Rempublican in the community.

Just as a side note, my great, great, great grandfather was elected and served in the very first state assembly after Wisconsin became a state. He also gave the first 4th of July address in Wisconsin before we even became a state.

I wouldn't even bother! I don't think that at one time having been homeless for a year of my life is exactly President material ... And that's not the good stuff!
