Mitt Romney, who the media has been telling us has the nomination all but wrapped up, turns out to have a tiny problem. He's WAY short on delegates and there is just about no way he can catch up to get the minimum he needs.

Here we come brokered convention! Yay!

Romney still needs almost 500 delegates to clinch GOP nomination - Political Hotsheet - CBS News

He will win no matter what. He has no competition on that side.

Huh? He can't win without the minimum. He needs at least a minimum number of delegates. The reason he won't win easily is that RON PAUL has all the delegates he needs.

I think the brokered convention became evident when the 4 man race continued after Super Tuesday. Ron Paul has most of the caucus delegates sealed.

Romney is going to be the nominee. He has no serious competition. I was hoping he would go into the convention without enough delegates just for the pure entertainment value but unfortunately it's not going to happen.

What? Did you read the thread and the MSM article? That is EXACTLY what is going to happen. He's going to the convention without enough delegates.

The first vote at the convention by the delegates will be for the candidate they are obligated to vote for. If a candidate can't be determined by that vote, they take a second vote where all the delegates can vote for whomever they want. They can actually vote their conscience. This is where Romnney could lose big time.

Exactly. Even if he was short at the end he made a deal with Paul to hand over his delegates to put him over the top at the convention, so it's a moot point.

Hooray for 6 more months of a boring, pointless general campaign.

Newsflash to some of you:

If he doesn't have the required amount of delegates, he doesn't get the nomination.

Shall I repeat that for you?

If he doesn't have the required amount of delegates, he doesn't get the nomination.

He did not make a deal with Ron Paul. Cite your source.

He will get the nomination.

This just shows me someone is scared of Romney getting the nomination.
