Texas Congressman Ron Paul appears more interested in influencing the direction of the Republican Party than in running as an independent presidential candidate. But perhaps Democrats should be careful what they wish for: Even if Mitt Romney’s remaining GOP challenger should run as a third party candidate, new Rasmussen Reports surveying finds Romney the winner of a three-way race.
The latest national telephone survey shows that 25% of Likely U.S. Voters think Paul should run as a third party candidate. Sixty-one percent (61%) disagree, but 13% more are not sure. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
The national survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted on May 6-7, 2012 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.
So now Dr Paul not a Republican and running on 3rd party?
Last I check Romney is not the nominee and Paul is still on the race.
It's called forecasting. A look at "what if". I think most rational folks are surmising that Romney is the nominee. I also don't think Ron Paul will run third party, but this poll shows where much of Paul's support is really coming from...which I already knew.

Doesn't seem rational to me to assume anything about Romney taking the nomination when he is losing delegates in states he supposedly won and Ron Paul is the one turning out to be the winner of those delegates.
For all we know the popular vote figures were fabricated in Romney's favor as well. Any rational person would wonder how if Romney was the most popular, why he can't even manage to fill a room with 500 supporters when Ron Paul can fill venues with over 10,000 and Ron Paul is the one winning the delegates.
The MSM has tried to get people to believe that Ron Paul would run 3rd party even though he clearly will not. It is part of the effort to discredit him.
What people should take away from this is that Ron Paul, not Mitt Romney, is the one who takes away votes from Obama.

And given a choice of all three, people like Mitt Romney the best!
Based on how Romney's been doing in the polls, it appears Paul takes very few voters from him at all.
