While some are focused on lagging indicators like jobs, others who know better are looking at things like today's inventory and wholesale sales data.

The latter is prophetic for a noticeable strengthening this summer into the fall.
What good are inventories if no one is buying?

Coupled with billions of dollars in consumer pockets due to falling fuel and commodity prices, things will be hopping by November.....
Billions of dollars in consumer pockets due to falling fuel and commodity prices?
$1 billion dollars amounts to less than $3 dollars per person. Billions (which you can't back up) amounts to only a few dollars more in each person's pocket.
First of all - you're wrong.
But, even if you were right, where do you think people would spend their new found 10 bucks?
Probably at the grocery store, where their 10 dollars buys less because of inflation.
Fact is Obama is trying to get a jobs bill past the reason it has been shot down like 9 times republicans in the house want him to fail so a republican will get elected and will have 4 more years of Bush they want to go back to just about everything Bush. Most of what Bush did caused the economy mess in the first place do republicans think this will macigly work a second time they will not work in 5 billion years sorry
If he wants to create jobs so badly, why doesn't he stop campaigning and fund-raising and get back to DC?
Obama press conference today:
"The private sector is doing fine."
Out of touch?
That statement is just more evidence of how dishonest the GOP is -- taking part of a statement out of context in an attempt to fool voters. The entire statement was:
Quote:
"We've created 4.3 million jobs over the past 27 months. The private sector is doing fine. Where we're seeing problems is with state and local government. Often with cuts initiated by governors or mayors who are not getting the kind of help they're accustomed to from the federal government.
"If Republicans want to be helpful... what they should be thinking about is how do we help state and local governments."
FactCheck.org : The Traveling President
figures provided to FactCheck.org by the Air Force's 89th Airlift Wing show that Obama traveled less on Air Force One last year, and in his first two years, than President George W. Bush did.
Notice the hypocrisy? Obama is held to a completely different standard than his predecessors.
Your quotes dont at all reply to what you are responding to..
One deals with stopping campaigning and going back to fix things, the other one compares the travel to Bush..
The original poster was suggesting that Obama should stop campaigning -- as if there was something wrong with a sitting president campaigning, and return to DC (as if that would make the GOP move on his legislation.)
My post pointed out how GWB campaigned furiously and used Air Force One to go to campaign stops more than any other president.
That seems to me to be addressing the issue precisely. If you can't understand that, it's your problem.

Who's being dishonest? ""We've created 4.3 million jobs over the past 27 months. The private sector is doing fine. Where we're seeing problems is with state and local government. Yeah, when federal government transfers to state and local governments HAVE NEVER BEEN HIGHER than under Obama, they aren't getting the kind of help they're accustomed to. Riiiight. The big grand stimulus that started the Obama debt avalanche contained hundreds of billions of dollars of transfers to state and local governments, so they could defer the day of reckoning on their own over-spending.
Fortunately, the productivity and efficiencies that come to the private sector from economic downturns have finally come to the bloated government sector. And Obama would undo it, as a payoff to his public union following.
