It's a great thing for the lefties that he is refusing to turn over his tax returns. He's caught between a rock and a hard place. They will not let up because they know he has something to hide now.
Great post, and all of it is spot on, especially the last line. Romney has revealed his Achilles heel. The Democrats will hone in on this and be relentless, forcing Romney to play defense for as long as he continues to stonewall. And it's hard to win the game when you're constantly in on the defensive.

Funny how that standard is never applied by liberals to their candidates.

The only people who care about Romneys tax returns are rabid liberals who aren't going to vote for him anyway.

Right-

Let us review-

1.8.2 % unemployment
2. real unemployment at 20%
3. deficits of $1.3 trillion
4. No budget for three years
5. debt at $16 trillion
6. Largest tax increase in US history via Obamacare
7. 50 million on foodstamps
8. record foreclosures
9. personal incomes down over 7%
10. Personal net wealth down 36%
11. No domestic energy policy
12. opposition to domestic energy exploration
13. Opposition to national right to work act
14. support of illegals over US citizens
15. failure to release Fast and Furious information
16. failure to release college and law school transcripts
17. failure to release Reznik details
18. Poverty rate at highest level since the 1960s.

Are you kidding? The IRS has NO PROBLEMS with Romney's returns. Obama has NO EVIDENCE of any problem. Obama has been TOXIC for US economic prosperity.

You are a fool if you believe this diversionary tactic, given Obama's dismal record. It is an obvious ploy to detract attention from all of Obama's economic failures. If you are that obtuse- then so be it.

For everyone else who has a brain and some common sense- Let's vote.

Then why are so many conservatives asking him to release them?

Furthermore, if only rabid liberals care, why not release them to paint Obama as being even further left?

But don't forget that Romney had a really tough time winning Southern states in the primary, which is his "base" in the general election. I think he got less than 30% in some states.

He's not, and that begs the question, why not?

At this point, it almost doesn't matter if he releases them or not. If he does, he'll have to face whatever damaging stuff they contain; if he doesn't, he'll have to try to overcome his image as just another shady Wall Street operative who thinks he is above the law, at a time when people are still struggling to recover from 2008 and still blaming Wall Street for the crash.

What a mess he has got himself into...
I agree!

Oh...and how do your know "they show the true Romney" if you haven't seen them?
Kerry released his tax returns, why won't Romney?

McCain released 2 years of returns. Kerry and his bazillionaire wife didn't release any tax returns. I wonder what they were hiding.
Liberals whinning they want to see a decades worth of returns from Romney. For what reason.

It doesn't have any thing to do with who is worth more. Why is Romney hiding his?
