I would say it is close. Right now nationally it's pretty close, but Obama is doing better in the electoral vote. I would say wait about a week or two after the DNC convention to let the dust settle and then that will give you a good picture. The debates will also probably play a big role in deciding which way the race will tilt.
Romney's issue is he comes across SOOOOO grossly out of touch with the average American. Even when he tries to act like he's "one of the guys" it is just so forced and canned.
It looks good now for the Repubs because we have just watched their conventions. They whitewashed most of this country's history and most of the misdeeds of the Bush administration. I didn't see the whole thing tonight, but wonder why Condol Rice feels that we need to involve ourselves even more into the foreign wars when there are so many pressing issues that affect all of us Americans directly. One really important thing to me is the guarantee that Social Security and Medicare will be there for me in their entirety when I retire (I'm 48 now). I am totally against the Ryan plan since it shortchanges me and expects me to continue to pay into a system that will ultimately fail me. Cut unnecessary defense spending before you cut benefits that I and people like me have worked our entire lives for.
