Wow, just wow!

What part of Democrat has you confused?

BTW, "clinging to guns and religion" is very different from going to church and owning a firearm.

That interpretation sounds like something out of the Baghdad Bob school of public speaking.

I'm recall Faux had the false outrage about that for almost the whole week with their talking herd.

The 2 are nothing alike.

What Obama, said, (4 years ago, and in an interview, not at a fat cat fundraiser) has at least an ounce of truth to it and anyone what says that rural Americans aren't more likely to cling to guns and God, more than another sector of America, is blinded by anti Obama hate.

Now on the other hand, what Romney said, IS NOT TRUE.

If Romney TRULY believes ALL 47% of the people in this country not paying federal income tax are unwilling to take responsibility for their lives, he needs another brain.

Is Social Security and Medicare a handout for retirees who have worked 50 years or more and retirement income is insufficient to pay federal income taxes in retirement?
Is Social Security Disability a handout for the disabled war vet or the person disabled by illness?
Are Food Stamps a handout for the tens of millions of unemployed whose jobs were sent overseas?
Are Food Stamps and Medicaid a handout for people working at Walmart - which company tells their underpaid employees to apply for food stamps and Medicaid? (aka the working poor)
Is the Earned Income Credit a handout for the above-named Walmart worker - b/c Walmart won't pay living wages and socializes all its obligations to its employees?

All of these, just to name a few, are the leeches and "takers" in that nefarious 47% who "refuse to take responsibility for their lives."
Hahahahaha - So the Cliffs Notes version of what you are saying is:

"Our closed minded, generalized stereotype is more correct than your closed minded, generalized stereotype"

Classic!

What Obama said is true. People who are desperately poor and hopeless do cling to religion (I don't know about guns). Jesus himself said blessed are the poor in spirit. When you are down and out you pray a lot and have the hope of a good afterlife. Obama said it in a caring way. The right, of course, took it as an arrogant, demeaning statement and ran with it for a while.

What Romney said is not true. 47% of the U.S. does not rely on handouts. The majority of Americans support themselves fully and want to contribute. Coming from someone whose wife called the citizens of the United States, for whom Romney is applying for a job to represent, "you people." Now that's arrogant and demeaning.

There are just as many desperately poor people who have no interest in God, Jesus, or guns as there are who do. Obama's statement is a lie and your willingness to embrace it as the truth is incredibly insulting and stupid.

The issue with Romney's statement is in the percentages. Subtract the retirees and he's accurate.

Barack Obama paid a political price for his secretly recorded but not meant for the public comments back in the 2008 campaign. He referred to the rural Pennsylvanians who were slow to support him as being frustrated, disappointed people who "get bitter, they cling to guns and religion."

He still won Pennsylvania.

Romney was referring to more than just one group in one state. He was referring to half the country.
