Who says PBS is the $5 coffee? I have a friend who has been out of work for 4 years. Yeah, they've given up some things, but they've kept others.

BAck ato the federal government, there's always defense, and it's riddled with pork.

Thumbs down Willard Too Cowardly To Even Take Questions From Children After His Killing Big Bird Gaffe

It's pretty amazing that Willard is too cowardly to even face children, whom many of the educational shows are geared to on PBS after his vow to kill off big bird.

If Willard is this much of a wuss to face children, how can he stand up to hostile world leaders?

"After recently promising to end funding for beloved Sesame Street character Big Bird, Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney is now refusing to take questions from children on a Nickelodeon special, Kids Pick the President: The Candidates."
Although both then-Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) and Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) appeared on the special in 2008, only Obama has agreed to participate this year, the network said on Monday."
By answering kids’ questions directly, candidates show respect for kids,” host Linda Ellerbee said. “We are disappointed that Mitt Romney wouldn’t take the time to answer the questions, but are thrilled that President Obama participated in the special.”

I don't see the logic behind this statement. Some things children can't understand, like The Gov't shouldn't be giving any station money to be on the air.

Sesame street EVP Sherrie Westin said that Big Bird would live on with or without subsidies.
Romney-Big Bird: Sesame Street's Sherri Westin says PBS cuts wouldn't kill Big Bird.

One more desperate diversion ploy by Obamabots. OP how do you justify funding entertainment, whether for children or adults, when we are $16 trillion in debt?

I found Romney's Big Bird statement enjoyable.

It was him speaking the truth. Whether it was a gaffe or not is a different story.

MR afraid of kids's questions?

Well obama, more importantly, is afraid of the questions from the press.

President Barack Obama has not helda press conference in many months - ABC News

1.14.2010

"President Obama has not held a full news conference at the White House since July 22, the night he said that the Cambridge Police "acted stupidly" in the arrest of Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates.
Since then, the president has delivered dozens of speeches and taken a few questions from reporters while with world leaders on foreign trips. But, lately, it is rare for him to take questions from the media at events or meetings at the White House. "

"Yes, children, it's true. I'm going to kill Big Bird. Never mind that some of you may learn about a variety of things on PBS, and I don't want you to know that PBS is a drop in the ocean of federal spending, but I'm a tough guy Republican and I need to look like I know about serious things like the federal budget. So I'm afraid Big Bird has to go. Big Bird must die along with all those other evil puppets who actually represent Communists which is why I want him dead! Do you hear me? Dead! Call me a wimp no more! It's true, boys and girls, that I didn't think going after bin Laden was worth it, but I'm thumping my chest now!! Death to Big Bird!

"Now run along and tell your Mommies and Daddies to be sure they file their taxes this year because my kids aren't paying any so the federal government needs all the suckers they can get. So, tell Mommie and Daddie to vote for me so we'll have lots of money for bombs!

"Oh, and no. I won't answer any questions about my underware."

OP - you are the only one calling the governor's statement a "gaffe".

There was nothing wrong at all with what he said.

PBS needs to get off of the public dole and fund themselves. Maybe they should work on getting more donations rolling in. Or maybe they could work on programming that people actually want to watch.

Otherwise, bye, bye Big Bird.
