I would have liked to see Romney say that the internal affairs of Middle Eastern countries is none of our business. That trying to drive and influence regime change is not America's place. That we need to pull our troops out of Afghanistan, that there is nothing and no one there worth another American's life. That foreign aid is ending. That we will leave you alone, unless you attack us. And if you do attack us, our response will be annihilation. Not foreign aid, not support, but annihilation.
Instead, at best he's a degree or two from Obama's interventionist practices. Obama has involved us in more foreign military actions. He has increased our foreign entanglements and left our people vulnerable. I see Romney as very little different from Obama, who was little different from Bush, who was little different from Clinton as far as dabbling in military action in other countries.
Little to no difference, except for in some rhetoric. Obama scaled down the war talk, despite not having changed much from the Bush foreign policy. Romney is an unabashed war lover and his close ties with Netanyahu worry me. Either way, out troops will remain spread out over the world "defending" nations that hate us and want us gone, sanctions will continue to hurt the innocents of other nations, and drones will keep on killing civilians (in Pakistan I read it was up to 70% civilian casualty rates ) I absolutely will NOT be voting for either of these men, no matter what hollow words come out of their mouths.
President Obama has for the most part continued the interventionist foreign policy of his predecessors (going way back). I never expected Romney to do differently, and he confirmed that last night.
I find it amazing anybody would think they know what Mitt's FP ideas are.
