So you are saying the MILITARY shouldn't have the right to vote?

And government employees shouldn't have the right to vote?

And retired people shouldn't have the right to vote?

Just want to be sure everyone here knows EXACTLY what you meant by your above comment!

Yes, Republicans think that anyone who pays taxes should get some magical "super citizen" status and anyone who doesn't pay taxes should bow down and worship them.

(FYI I think everyone should pay some minimal level of federal income tax...I just don't go along with this deification of the tax payer that conservatives project).

Have you ever been to the DMV? A real look at a pathetic, government run, agency. I have been for certain reasons and waited until they closed and never had a turn. Guess what? I came back the next day...that is life. We don't all get what is 'fair' and we do have to follow the rules, despite what BO has told you.

If early voting lines are long that proves people are fired up to vote. That is a good thing. If you don't get there early enough and the polls close, sorry, but again, that is life.
What's pathetic is the way you rant on in ignorance. You have totally missed the point of the original post, then you go on about the DMV... what does the DMV have to do with early voting????

By the way, who do you think should run the DMV??

Like most of the RW, you are gearing up for the big melt-down tomorrow when Obama wins the election.

Well like you say-- THAT'S LIFE, GET OVER IT!

- A person must present a legal ID to vote. A person needs to provide an address anyway to determine which state and local races they can vote in.
- End voter registration. If you are a citizen and can prove it, you have the right to vote. No need for this extra step which tends to lend itself to fraud.
- After a voter casts their ballot, generate a voter receipt. The receipt would contain an encrypted hash of the person's data and vote. This would provide proof of voting, verification if there's any problems later, or a recount. If a person casts an absentee ballot, the receipt would be mailed back to them.
I completely agree!

Having elections run by partisan governors just leads to election theft through voter suppression.

There should be a national elections standard which would need to be followed by all states.

Even the voting machines themselves should be standardized at a national level, and federal employees should test and certify the machines immediately before the elections.

Federal employees should be sent to polling locations to monitor the elections, and report all issues.

Federal employees should be present to monitor voting tabulation at the end of the election. It should not be done in secrecy, and I would also say that the Press (a few selected news groups) should be inside watching the tabulation as well to keep everyone honest.

This is to prevent the kind of stuff that went on in 2004, where supposedly Kerry and Bush's final counts were swapped in several key counties in Ohio. If final counts are way off from recent polls, like in the case of Kerry and Bush, a recount should be ordered for that county.

And there absolutely needs to be a paper trail in voting machines. Paper receipts should be required in all machines. Electronic voting data is too easy to manipulate, and can easily be used for election theft.

Or better yet, let's just go back to the original constitution and limit voting to white land owners and call it a day.

Voter suppression is having the polls open for 8 days??

I know democrats are lazy, but 8 days is more than enough to go in and vote.

Voter suppression is long lines?

What in life haven't you had to stand in line for?

Sounds like a bunch of whiny people to me. What needs to happen is to go back to election day where everyone went in and cast their ballot. We don't need months of early voting. All it does is open up chances for fraud and manipulation.
