a President was elected by a minority of Americans. Or so says Michael Steele. Seriously. I guess the other 16 times it happened don't count

Every President has been elected by a minority of all Americans.

Anyway, the popular vote is not fully in yet (I'll give Cain the benefit of the doubt and assume his reference is to the majority of popular votes cast) - when California is fully counted, I expect President Obama to have more than 50% of the popular vote.

Actually, so far on CNN, it's 50% Obama (53,944,805), 49% Romney (53,143,645). Not a whole heck of a lot of difference...but technically so far a slight majority.
