I wish someone'd give us a candidate for POTUS whose knee-jerk reaction to any incident anywhere in the world isn't 'Let's stick our nose in there'.

He's pretty good I'd vote for him BUT the primaries and the right will eat him alive because he's too libral and a "progressive." My question is is it really THAT bad to be a Rockefeller Republican?

oh dear god no: I read this in the paper a few day ago. Yes, he was a good governor, yes, he has good ideas, but no, he shouldn't even think of running. Of course he has every right to run, but all he will do is cloud the field even more and he stands no chance of winning. He is a Rockefeller Republican and if we all remember even way back when, Rockefeller couldnt' get the nomination.

There are plenty of folks clouding the field, Santorum, Carson and Huckabee to name a few, who dont have a snowballs chance in hell of winning.

Cruz and Fiorina should be in that list too. IMO it is a three dog race: Bush, Cruz and Rubio. As I said, I would want Pataki out of anyone but realistically, he has no real shot because he'll get the RINO label and called a socialist because he isn't conservative enough.

As far as King (who unfortunately is my Congressman) him being from NY isn't really the reason he has gotten the attention. King is a loudmouth, loudmouths tend to get more attention than they deserve regardless of where they represent.
They get attention from the NY national news media. If Peter King was some congressman from Alabama no one would know he existed.

Peter King gets coverage from the national media because he is a loudmouth, loudmouth's tend to get coverage no matter where they represent. Those who quietly go about their business, regardless of party and where they represent don't get much media coverage, loudmouths in either party tend to get coveraage regardless of where they represent.

I've met Gov. Pataki and know his son. He's a good person and has a solid record as NYS governor. Still, like some of the other candidates, he'll be perceived as too far left during the primary. The reason why he is running, though (and why other moderates are considering), is that they don't expect Jeb Bush to be in the running very long (I see him drop out after the first 5-6 contests when he doesn't win a single one) and there could be an opening for a "moderate" alternative.

Agreed, and I like Pataki. He was one of the best governors New York has ever had. I think he would be a great centrist president. I have also always hoped that he would run for the US Senate and challenge Gilly or Chuckles.
