I am well aware of the definition and feel it is still apt. How can one analyze things with great clarity yet appear slow witted, easy. In fact to analyze things I would hope that someone would take the methodical time to do it correctly as opposed to some quick off the cuff response. I have no doubts Romney is an intelligent man, as the only way to become wealthy is to either inherit your money or earn it, and if you earn it, chances are it requires some level of intelligence to acquire such wealth as he has. However, Romney is the last guy in the room to get a joke, save maybe McCain. Not because he is stupid but because the analytical mind usually requires time to process the information in a methodical manner.

Fair enough, though I haven't seen evidence of him being the last guy in the room to get a joke. Any examples? I'm open to hear them...

I do know what you're saying though in the general sense. But don't discount Romney's sense of humor. I thought it was really funny what he said about Bill the other day, not wanting to send him back to the White House with too much time on his hands. And the General Hillary thing.

He's just very professional in his run for the White House. But it looks like he's happy and having a good time too, especially when you see him out talking with people.

TnHilltopper - I'm taking that too literal, huh. You're just trying to make a point, right? (the last guy in the room to get a joke thing) Was just thinking about that a little after I posted...

I'm probably the last girl in the room to get a joke sometimes... not that I'm very smart though...

No, I have no examples other than what I have witnessed along the campaign trail. It is nothing concrete or scientific, it is merely my observations of not just what the man says but how he says things and his body language.

Another aspect is his constant deference to having advisor's determine various courses of action to a variety of given subjects. Now I realize that every President has advisers that they confer with, but one gets a sense that the Romney method of executive power will be structured like a corporate entity as opposed to just a boss of company "X". I find this a bit disconcerting that our country is viewed by our current President as well as some candidates as a corporation more so than a powerful nation. Corporate America does not have a stellar record of dealing with social aspects and most corporations are tuned to one thing, maximization of share holder profits.

For what it is worth, I don't much care for Romney, in fact I loath the man, but given a choice between McCain, Huckabee, and Romney, I would have to chose Romney. In part due to the fact that Washington hates the man, and I tend to be more of a person who bucks the current establishment. I probably just write in Ron Paul since he isn't going to get the nomination.

I do think it's in our best interests as a nation if our leader is good at bringing the brightest minds together to make solid decisions and get things done quickly. That's what Romney did for the Olympics. You have to have capable people on your team. And when you're only one man, you truly can't run around doing everything. It's a smart strategy. Efficient. Not every decision requires input of course, just ones in which you truly need specialists' perspectives in certain fields. The buck stops with him though. A leader who leaned more toward not caring to consult with others would make me nervous. No one person knows everything.

I do think if our federal government were run, in some ways, more like a corporation, we'd be better off. Having excessive and unsuccessful programs countinually hanging around that are guzzling down countless federal dollars, or more federal jobs than are necessary, wouldn't be tolerated in a successful business. It makes me think of a ship about to sink because it's flooding, taking on more and more water, out of balance. We need to bail out the water of excess in government to keep it afloat beautifully. I also wish we (aren't we the shareholders?) could see exactly what our tax money was being used for and which legislators voted for what pork. Transparency and accountability. That way it would be easier to keep in the men/women who truly represent their constituents, and more importantly get rid of the ones who don't.
