A review of public polling, extensive interviews with a host of his supporters in two states and a new private survey that tracks voting records all point to the conclusion that Mr. Trump has built a broad, demographically and ideologically diverse coalition, constructed around personality, not substance, that bridges demographic and political divides. In doing so, he has effectively insulated himself from the consequences of startling statements that might instantly doom rival candidates.

In poll after poll of Republicans, Mr. Trump leads among women, despite having used terms like “fat pigs” and “disgusting animals” to denigrate some of them. He leads among evangelical Christians, despite saying he had never had a reason to ask God for forgiveness. He leads among moderates and college-educated voters, despite a populist and anti-immigrant message thought to resonate most with conservatives and less-affluent voters. He leads among the most frequent, likely voters, even though his appeal is greatest among those with little history of voting.

That was the sound of the stupid and ignorant narrative from the cuckservatives and leftists blowing up.

For the sake of argument let's assume Donald Trump is, in American parlance, an ass.

So the question is: why is an ass - and not just any old ass but someone widely regarded as a gigantic ass, one of the world's biggest - holding a commanding poll lead over his rivals for the Republican presidential nomination?

There's the fact that there are a lot of asses in America (population around 320 million). Even if the ass ratio is much the same as in other countries - and it's fair to say the global consensus is that America, being the spiritual home of the ass, has a higher per capita ratio than anywhere else - that's an awful lot of asses. More than enough to tilt the polls in Trump's favour.

Sure, some minor league asses have run for President but, rather than revel in their ass-iness, as Trump does, they saw it as a liability and wasted resources trying to persuade the electorate that they weren't in fact *******s.
Trump isn't making that mistake.

Think about what makes an ass.

Racism: check. When Trump described Mexican immigrants as rapists and criminal scum, asses from Anchorage to Austin heard a man who speaks their language.

Sexism: check. When a female journalist asks tough questions, she's not being professional, she's being a *****. And why is she being a *****? Well, if she wasn't already that way, it must be that time of the month.

Ignorance: check. How will Trump deal with immigration? Simple, he'll build a wall along the Mexican border. How will he deal with Vladimir Putin and China and Isis? Simple, by being an ass. It's the only language foreigners understand.

General vileness: check. John McCain isn't a hero, he's a loser. He went to Vietnam, got shot down, captured, tortured and spent five hellish years as a prisoner of war. Winners like Trump dodged the draft and stayed home getting rich rather than risking their lives for their country. Trump is the candidate the asses of America have been hanging out for. He's the asses' ass.

Someone just learned a new word.

In fact, the uneducated buffoons comprise the Democrat constituency. Good try, though.

Trump is in essence a corporatist. He's no different from the Wal-Marts, Solyndras, Ex-im bank advocates, etc. who want to meld big business and big government. It's what he has done his whole career. The only difference is that he is the brash upstart who wants to knock off the establishment fat cats and take over their turf for himself.

Here's a good piece on 'who are the Trump supporters'
Who Are Donald Trump's Supporters?

Quote:
1) “Low-information voters” who don’t really know much about Trump or his policies, but hey, he’s a celebrity, so they tell pollsters they’re voting for him.
2) Actual conservatives who like Trump because he’s a tough-talking “fighter” and a businessman who “gets things done.”

3) Disgruntled non-ideological independents who normally don’t vote because “it never makes any difference.”

4) Single-issue anti-immigration fanatics.

5) Archie Bunker types who normally vote Republican because they see it as the party of “identity politics for white people,” the ones who want the country to be run by and for “people like me.” These are the folks on Twitter and in the comments fields of my articles who extol the virtue of “European” immigrants, without realizing that “Hispanic” derives from the word for Spain, and that Spain is in Europe.

6) Outright racists who don’t normally vote because neither party has the guts to embrace White Power.
I'd say he could have eliminated category 5 and filed it under category 1. I think 1,3,5, and 6 are unlikely to show up and vote in GOP primaries or caucuses. I think 2 and 4 is where Trump has to be taken seriously by the GOP, and this has to be better addressed by other candidates.

Why has the pct. of foreign-born in the U.S. gone from 4.7 %in 1970 to 12.9% in 2010, and what is the GOP-controlled congress doing about this? I am generally pro-immigration, but it worked a whole lot better in 1970 when the number was 4.7, and immigrants quickly assimilated.
Foreign Born Population

He never called Mexican immigrants rapists and criminal scum. Repeating a lie doesn't make it the truth. He said the Mexican government sends those kind of people over here in order to get them out of Mexico.
pfft I'm defending a billionaire hypocrite. I need to bathe.

If the right language means don't do as I do, do as I say then I agree. But stop the lies about what he said about illegals.
