I have to say that I'm embarrassed for this country. At this point, the two strongest candidates are Clinton and Trump. Clinton, one of the most corrupt, incompetent and arrogant politicians and arguably the worst SS in history. One who tells one lie after another, with too much contempt for the American public to even give them credit for caring or understanding. One who among other things helped her husband get away with decades of sexual abuse of women.

Or Trump...a man with the maturity and class of a 9th grade kid. A clown of a reality TV show host. One with a history of misogyny and who throws temper tantrums when he doesn't get his way. No better than Obama in that regard, and we certainly have seen way too much childish behavior from the White House for the last 7 years. Please, not again.

I want to like Carson. Smart, successful, and someone that is not a political insider. But sadly, I don't see it in him. I don't see the leadership persona that a president should be able to present (again, like Obama).

What's left? A ranting old socialist? 2 other absolutely clueless space fillers on the left? On the right...Cruz and Rubio don't look bad. Not stellar, but not bad. Far better than Trump or Clinton.

In a nation of 330 million or so people...is this really the best we can come up with? What is wrong with us?

I know that I'm tired of politicians who are beholden to their mega-rich donors to the point that the donors get put first instead of their constituents. Years of the same old, same old has gotten us in the mess that we are in now.

Trump refuses to take contributions from mega-rich donors because he knows how the game is played (having played it himself) so he won't be beholden to any of those donors. If Trump were constantly throwing "temper tantrums", do you really think that he could be a successful businessman? He also is shining lights in dark corners and addressing the elephant in the room plus he eschews PC BS. Is he perfect? No one is perfect. I, for one, see nothing wrong with giving him a chance at the presidency.

Actually the "ranting old socialist" is the only one with the experience and knowhow to get us out of this political hole.

Clinton or Carson and I doubt America will make it to 2020.

Clinton deserves a term in the big house, not the White House.

Hilla the hun's supporters don't care much for the good of the country as long as they can get their gibs.

Think about how dumb the average person is, half the people are dumber than that, this explains the popularity of Trump/Clinton.

a lot of people are taking a dim view of trump, but i think he will surprise people like he has in the past.

but to answer the questions you posed, these are probably the best that are willing to put up with the intense media scrutiny, and the intense media stupidity for teh duration of the campaign.

personally i would love to see someone like alan mullally run for president, he would have cleaned everyones clocks, including trumps, and would have been an excellent president. however i doubt that he would be willing to put himself up for the ridicule that the current crop of candidates are facing right now.

and that is the real problem here. the media, and the candidates themselves along with their campaigns, go way over the top and dig up every bit of dirt they can find, and even make some up as well, and the people of this country eat it up. so we have gotten to the point where national campaigns are essentially mud slinging contests, and contests about who can lie more and better about their opponent and get away with it.

take the 2012 election for instance, reid out and out lied about romney and his tax returns, and whether or not romney paid taxes, and yet he got away with it because he did it on the senate floor. obama lied about romneys tax plan, rather blatantly i might add, and used math so fuzzy that people are still looking for the dust bunnies from under their beds. but in the end it doesnt matter because the democrats lied well enough to win the election. and this is not to say the republicans are a group of angels, far from it.

^Correct! I would never vote for him. He wants those things because he is beholden to his mega-rich donors and this is what those donors want for their money

I think of Trump as a hail mary pass. Doing the same thing over and over again hasn't worked. Sure, it might not work either. But at least there is a chance.
