At least Hilary is an artful, skilled liar. Trump is an obvious and willful liar. Either than or he's ignorant and delusional. Either way, I'd rather have a smart, knowledgeable liar (Hilary) than a woefully unqualified one (Trump).
What a joke. This is the type of ignorance voting in our elections.

Anyone else notice Colbert's ratings have gone right over the cliff? He makes snippy comments to appeal to lib/prog viewers while the rest of us watch America under the Democrats go to hell.

Actually, his numbers are pretty good, especially in the coveted 18-49 year old demographic:

"The ratings for Colbert’s Late Show among the coveted demographic of 18- to 49-year-olds are up about 50% from the numbers David Letterman’s show posted during the same period last year and Colbert’s show has nearly double Letterman’s ratings among the 18- to 34-year-old audience, according to Nielsen numbers reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

That info is from about 6 weeks ago. His rating have dropped a bit since, but are still solid - As you said, they're about 50% higher than Letterman. [During his prime Letterman was amazingly creative and funny, but over decade or so he's been stale.]

Colbert shouldn't worry, unlike Trevor Noah, who's tanking as Stewart's successor. They need to either change the Daily Show so it's more conducive to Noah or find another host - or cancel it. Currently, TDS has basically the same format it did with Stewart, but Noah just isn't very good in that context.

Yes, he is.... and should.

If he makes those middle school faces that he did at the last debate when meeting with a foreign leader I can't begin to imagine the outrage. As I have said before, watching a Trump rally is eerily like watching a Hitler rally and, I've got to say, some of the words, including the vilifying of certain demographics, is deeply concerning.

It is with great dismay, but I agree.

Surely there is a better answer out there. Surely. Maybe Romney will run third party if Trump is the nominee. Sigh......

I can't really blame politicians for lying because most voters don't understand how complex and ambiguous most things are. Most people believe there are clear and simple explanations for virtually everything, but that's not reality. No matter how smart and well informed someone is -regardless of who they are- it's extremely difficult, maybe even impossible, to fully understand reality in all it's complexity. That's really the difference between realists like Kasich, Christie, and Hilary and overly simplistic and/or ideologues like Trump, Carson, and Sanders.

Delusional and arrogant people think they know more than than really do, and while smart people know more than the former, they still know that their understanding of most things is still limited because human perception is limited. This is why the former pander by being certain and overly simplistic, while the latter explain things in more complicated, ambiguous ways because that's how things actually work.
