Sure they did. I'm old enough to remember my grandfather complaining he was too young but my grandmother telling him it was his duty to vote for a Catholic.
Age should not be the decisive factor in election concern, if there is no sign of impairement in a candidate.

He was running against the sitting Vice President
He was Catholic
It was his age that saved him from a loss.
This happened when he and Nixon appeared on TV for the first ever televised debate. Voters saw a good looking young man vs the always frowning and nervous looking Nixon and that pushed the election into his direction.

Indeed they did. The fact that he won by the skin of his teeth shows many people were concerned about his age as well as experience. I don't know why today it's just assumed he was a super hero with no one thinking anything negative about him.

His death signicantly affected the direction of our country. Many have argued that he had no idea of escalating Vietnam involvement. 75 yes of age for any job much less a job like Potus takes a tremendous amount of energy, stamina, good health, mental clarity. Life expectancy of someone born in early 1940s is early 70s I believe. Kennedy waso well short of his life expectancy time period and it took a freak cause of death.....a 75 you old has a very high likelihood of death in his next 5-10 yrs.
The country didn't collapse after his assassination, did it? Nor did it after Reagan's attempted assassination.
And Roosevelt was in wheelchair.
You should read historybooks. I'll recommend O'Reilly's Killing Reagan. He argues that Reagan'so health and mental capacity its greatly was affected post assassination attempt to a point where the inner circle tested his mental status and briefly considered getting him declared incapacitated.
