You classify them as idiots based on your "opinion". It doesn't matter what you (or the GOP) thinks, it's about what the majority of the voters want. The will of the people.
What do you think this forum is if it's not based on opinion. You'll find any candidates there will be enough support, even the low key Carson.
The will of 35-40% of the people. Not the majority.
Thought Mitt was going to have a moment of clarity when he quoted John Adams :
“Democracy… while it lasts is more bloody than either aristocracy or monarchy. Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There is never a democracy that did not commit suicide.”
– John Adams
But of course Mitt's thinking is if we elect Trump we are on that suicide mission. We have been on suicide watch long before Trump came on the scene. This election it is just more obvious when the choices look like it could boil down to Trump/Hillary and the {R}s doing every thing they can to stop the peoples choice with talk of a brokered convention.
If you think this election is bad you have not seen nothing yet. Plus we all know that our leaders do the bidding of the banks and corporations and the people are fools that vote for democracies suicide. And in its place is Mussolini fascism, which make Adams right where democracy always commits suicide.
If Romney had wanted to be in the limelight again, he would have run for president again. He certainly had a lot of people urging him to do it.
It is SO like Trump's fan club to attack anyone who speaks up against him rather than to address the issues that are brought up....like his many, many failed businesses, his womanizing, his potty mouth, his hot temper, his unrealistic and unworkable world view, and so on.
The bankruptcies are a legal tool that end up being used by the other companies. Is it ethically questionable? Probably, but he's not the first nor the last to do this, nor do other corporate bankruptcies ever warrant this kind of scrutiny.
Right or wrong, one's personal live doesn't provide a useful proxy to being a successful president. Jimmy Carter was a moral man, but a horrible president. Furthermore, Trump's warts have been exposed for years - virtually everyone knows about it.
Does his language and temper turn people off? Sure, but a large portion of Trump's base identifies with his anger - we're saying the same things privately ourselves.
Mitt's remarks had me thinking more seriously about Bernie, a guy I had written off. Bernie will take it to the bad guys that are destroying our country while preserving the dignity of the office and the respect of the world.
I think Romney wanted to run but not his wife. His love for his wife is admirable.
I think a lot of people forget Romney is a great family man and seems like a good person. He's run for president twice without so much as a hint of personal scandal. He's as straight-laced as they come. Compared to all the personal stuff out there in Hillary's closet, the Democrats couldn't find anything on Mitt. Right or wrong, Obama is also pretty clean on a personal level, so Romney couldn't really play that up.
Did you not hear the part where Romney dissed Hillary as well as Trump? Romney told it like it is. I would think true Trump fanboys would respect that.
Romney's criticisms of Trump and Hillary were fair. It's hard even for a Democrat to disagree with his take on Hillary. The response of Hillary supporters is "Yes, but...."
A greet speech, he hit all the anti-Trump talking points and because it's from a high profile source creates fodder for Trump opponents and for talking heads and forum posters.
A great speech, but Romney knowing went in as the sacrificial ham and proxy to say what current and high GOPers can't or won't. Romney knowingly fell on his sword believing he's doing it for the good of the party and the good of America.
MR and the repub establishment has again proved to be dumber than a rock.
The dems have eaten the repubs lunch and sit on their hands as the repub pols build their own gallos.
The dems on the other hand are scheming socialists who have no issue using people they pretend to protect and try to not sell, but impose, unwanted socialism.
Trump may be stomach churning with some of his comments but still better than the smooth talking lying bstrd, divider, now in the oval office.
The ship is sinking and trump is the only bit of floating wreckage we can cling to.
Trump expresses his opinion but defers to experts. So unless Trump is coronated king, he will be supported by experts of every stripe whose counsel he will seek. Unlike Obama who depends soley on Valerie Jarrett and ignores and replaces anyone not in alignment with Valerie's wishes.
Time the dems dropped the democart label and renamed themselves, because the dems and their priciple are long gone and replaced by socialists and not the democratic socialists of Europe. These guys are more along the lines of communist socialists.
Of course there is a backlash. Trumpettes are passionate about their candidate. Remember what Trump said about being able to shoot people on 5th Avenue and his supporters will still back him.
Backlash was expected and this is why Romney was chosen to give the speech instead of a sitting Senator or Governor or US Representative. Because a sitting politician would get backlash and might be voted out of office by Trumpettes. Whereas Romney has nothing to lose. He was picked to be the 'fall guy' and he's ok with that. This isn't about Romney anyway - he's just the chosen speaker. His speech was already reviewed and approved by many others within the GOP.
