Trump's never going to get in. The powers that be will put a stop to it any way they can, even if it means helping Hillary win. It's high time his cult followers start accepting the reality that their folk hero will be headed back to Manhattan where he belongs in a few short months.

The only question left before you at this point, is whether you will put your differences aside and help us beat Hillary in the fall, or throw a temper tantrum. The choice is yours.

Let's also not forget that individual gun rights weren't recognized by the SCOTUS until 2008 in Heller (followed by McDonald in 2010, extending such rights to the states).

Mick
That's not accurate, the Supreme Court recognized an individual right to bear arms as early as 1875 in United States v. Cruikshank, but even if it were accurate, what difference would it make?

A gay person's right to marry wasn't recognized by the court until last year, so does that make it any less relevant?

Good luck getting religious nuts our of the GOP. These folks are so angry at Obama, ISIS and the economy that they want to fight back via "anti abortion" and "Religious liberty" bills. If that doesn't make sense, it never did with these American mullah Taliban trying to turn us into theocratic Iran while hiding behind fake anger. It's just a Trojan horse anger to install Christian sharia law as law of the land (Tennessee just passed a bill to make Bible the official state book)

Trump supporters are basically liberals. They want big government and out of control spending ... they want cradle to the grave welfare to subsidize their lack of education.

It's going to take time but I am confident the GOP will eventually return to being a secular, center-right political party. We will probably need to lose a few more presidential elections and see Congress return to Democratic control before that happens though.

I've been saying this since the beginning. Trump is not a conservative. He's just trolling the republican party. Republicans are too blindly angry at Obama to know any difference.

It doesn't matter. In the general election, the moderates will win the day. This is why it's a bad idea for the republican party to nominate either Cruz or Trump. It's also a bad idea for the democratic party to nominate Sanders.

Obama got elected twice because he's not a liberal. I don't understand why people keep saying Obama is a liberal nut. He's really not. He's more moderate than anything else.

Clinton is pretty moderate, also.

Anyway, it doesn't matter what I think. I live in a deep blue state, so my vote doesn't matter at all. We'll find out in a few months if I'm right.

I found an interesting reason FOR the GOP to continue post SCOTUS battles against gay marriage at the State level.

The real purpose is to drive the anti-gay marriage voters to the polls so they will vote GOP again.

See article how placing a ballot about fighting gay-marriage is a tactical plan at: One purpose of Missouri bill on same-sex marriage is to drive up GOP turnout | The Kansas City Star

Wasn't that self-evident?

The problem for the GOP is that the anti-gay marriage and the religious vote ( one in the same more often than not ) is getting less and less all the time. Young Republicans and the broader electorate just don't see it as an important issue whatsoever, and some of us, like myself, have no problem with and even support gay marriage.

If the GOP continues down this road, they'll soon die off with the demographics they pander to.

The GOP Platform will never remove the principle that family is the fundamental basis of society and the GOP recognizes that marriage is defined as a union between one man and one woman.

Remove that plank of the platform and you do not have a Republican party.

The temper tantrum seems to be yours.

Just who is your candidate ? Kasich - the guy who barely won his home state and no other ? You think he is the one to win in November ? Perhaps it's Cruz who is more reviled than Hillary by his fellow Republicans ? Does the Republican electorate just let the party elites make the decision because they just know better ? Perhaps you need to go live in (or spend some quality time in) Russia.
