Yes. But what about an alcoholic drinking a little? Isn't that against the rules? This country had no problem electing a alcoholic coke head, but someone who smokes cigarettes is unfit?

Obviously that isn't the consensus, since he's won the last eight primarys and beats McCain in every head to head match up.

Wasn't talking about the consensus. I agree with that. I was talking about the posts earlier in this thread that suggest Obama's judgment should be questioned because he used to smoke cigarettes.

I think most people were being fecetious, at least I hope they were, I brought up the smoking, but I don't care either way.

And it's a sign of poor judgment on so many levels. I mean, really, in 2008? A politician who smokes?
I guess this was the post I was referring to. Doesn't sound facetious, but most of these posts do obviously.

I personally have been a couple feet from the man. His breath didn't smell at all like he had been eating babies. Nicorette, maybe, but not babies.

No, it's poor judgment. Like sex without a condom. You KNOW the dangers, and if you STILL do it, it shows poor judgment.

Curious.... is that a "national" poll, or is it a more accurate state-by-state, electoral college factored poll? Or have we switched to the popular vote and someone forgot to tell me?

Hmmm. So candidates who eat bacon cheeseburgers are out, too? Those who drive cars? Come on. You can't be serious. I thought you were joking.

Eating a bacon cheeseburger every once in a while is not the same as a lifestyle choice of smoking.

Hey, I'm not the "good judgment" candidate. One would think, though, that if you're going to be running on a theme of having "good judgment," that your personal life choices would mirror your claim to make "good choices."

Okie dokie. To each his own. I find it hard to believe that anyone would care much about this, but I will mention that he seldom smokes. "Three Marlboros a day", his wife has been quoted as saying.

This'd be a tough time to quit. I mean, I know dudes who start smoking again when work gets stressful. They aren't vying to be the leader of the free world.

I wonder if you hold every candidate to such a high standard. If so, I wonder which candidates were found to be faultless.
