Earth Shattering News. The Libertarian, Gary Johnson is polling in double digits.

I believe the Libertarian vote last time was ~1%. 11% is more than the difference between a red vs blue state in the vast majority of the USA. Gary John may severely change the Electoral Map

Statistics are showing that most of the Johnson vote is coming from disaffected Democrats. With Johnson in the race it becomes a statistical Tie between Trump & Clinton. This is pretty devastation news to Clinton in particular.

(For the record I voted for Johnson in 2012 instead of Obama as I did in '08)

Without Johnson: Clinton +10
With Johnson: Clinton +8

She maintains her lead in swing states and leaning states. Johnson performs best in red states.

I have no idea how you reached the conclusion that with Johnson in the race it becomes a dead heat between Clinton and Trump. His presence in the race doesn't seem to meaningfully impact the race at all.

Cool. And yes, 1% or 1.28M votes in 2012. Would be nice if he could (assuming he is the nominee) boost that to a much bigger % this time around. With all the people not wanting to vote for Hillary or Trump, it seems like this would be the year to get the name and recognition gains that a third party needs to start making a difference.

Op distorts reality and suggests something way out of what the articles proposed.

The only thing that gives me reservations about voting for him is his lack of interest in really stopping illegal immigration.

Since when is a poll showing a margin slightly higher than Obama's 08 PV margin a statistical tie??

If GOP takes the nomination away from Trump, I may have to re-evaluate my anger and look at Johnson.

yep. from the article:

"In a hypothetical two-way race between Clinton and Trump race, 48 percent of poll respondents chose Clinton and 38 percent chose Trump. But enter Johnson, the former governor of New Mexico (as a Republican) and the current frontrunner among LP presidential candidates. With Johnson in the mix, Clinton earned just 42 percent of the hypothetical vote and Trump just 34 percent.

Johnson, meanwhile, was the top choice for 11 percent of those polled. His highest vote share came from Republican-leaning states. "

Gary Johnson has not even won the Libertarian Party's nomination yet.

Very few people will actually vote for the LP candidate when the rubber
hits the road in November. This is because their ideas are unpopular
and make no sense.
