I chuckle whenever a thread turns into a war between PCALMike and t206.

Do the "majority of Americans" still support socialism, once you inform them that their taxes will rise to a minimum of 60% of their income?

First of all, no one is talking about workers owning the means of production here, which is what socialism is about. We are talking about social democracy. Like FDR advocated. The most popular president in history. Americans do support social safety nets and programs that the 99% benefit from, like Medicare, social security, public schools etc.

Your taxes now go to perpetual warmongering, bailouts, gifts to the donor class, corporate welfare etc. Case in point: The Iraq war alone cost the US taxpayers 3 trillion dollars, enough to pay for 50 years of tuition free public university. A Medicare-for-all system is also far better for the 99% than the massively expensive privatized system today which leaves millions without proper health care and sick children are dying everyday as a result of this obscenity. Banning for-profit prisons, automatic voter registration of all citizens, breaking up the biggest banks, making the current system of gerrymandering unconstitutional etc etc dont cause any increase in taxes. On the contrary, less submissive behavior towards the big money donor class means less bailouts, less monopolies and corporate welfare.

Borrowed money we are still paying for, it shouldn't have been spent ANYWHERE.

OH, and sorry, FDR...SECOND most popular in history, Mr. Lincoln demands an apology.
