I'm not surprised that GJ lacks knowledge on basic foreign affairs. Johnson has likely lost any chance he had of me voting for him. His performance in the CNN libertarian town hall from about a month ago was already quite damaging in my eyes, but this may be the finishing blow. I mean, if you don't have decent knowledge and awareness of foreign affairs, then you have no business running for POTUS. Period. It doesn't matter what the candidate's party, ideology or beliefs are.
Not getting the national security briefings is not an acceptable excuse. There are probably more than a few 18-21 year olds that have a better understanding of foreign affairs than Gary Johnson (including having heard of Aleppo). Jeez.
The Libertarian Party has probably erased any chance it had of hitting that 5% threshold in November. (They never had a real chance of hitting the 15% needed to qualify for the debates.) A lot of libertarians, independents and #NeverTrump Republicans were already wary of the guy.
Seriously doubt that. Have you ever seen Man on the Street or Jay Walking? Now, ask them to identify Kim Kardashian by a picture, and you may have a point.
Former New Mexico Governor and current Libertarian Party presidential nominee Gary Johnson admitted his ignorance Thursday about the most populous city in Syria, and it sent the panel into a bit of shock.
Wow..just...wow
This is staggering in its ignorance..no wonder he is polling at 12%
And Jill Stein got busted spray painting graffiti.... I'm not voting for any of them. How could the USA promote four losers as President of this county...it's beyond baffling.

i never heard of it either, ive been watching political shows, listening to political discussion on talk radio, reading this board incessantly and haven't seen the word spoken or used.
now, im not running for office and he probably should have known, but really, is this that big of a deal?

Yes, and when the word Syria was introduced he came to clarity on what they meant, so its not as if he was clueless to whats going on in Syria, just didn't recognize the name of a town within Syria. Admittedly not helpful or a shining moment for him, but it was definitely the red meat people were looking for on Johnson because the whole "pot head" and "third party" arguments don't hold much water.

Nah. It's no big deal. All those mongrels yelping about his qualifications were never gonna vote for him, anyway.
Hillary knew exactly where Benghazi was. And look what that got us.
So Hillary knows where Allepo is. Will she do the right thing? No. Obama knew where Iraq was; screwed it up.
Here's a question:
So, Governor Johnson if you are elected, how many Americans will die in Aleppo?

No, not that big of a deal for Johnson, but mainly because most people aren't even looking in his direction to notice. But he has to be the dark horse, he should look so much better than his unworthy opponents and he failed to impress. Although many people wouldn't know where Aleppo is or it's significance, some names are synonymous with something topical and a presidential candidate should be aware of world affairs. I really hope he gets up to speed in the unlikely event he gets on one of the debate stages.
