Republicans need 47 pct. of Latino vote to win White House | Fox News Latino

Quote:
The Republican candidate who wants to become president of the United States in 2016 will need at least 47 percent of the Latino vote, the highest percentage in history, if the rest of the electorate retains roughly the same party preferences that it had in 2012, according to a study published Friday.

The document, drafted by Latino Decisions for the America's Voice organization, tosses out the idea that the Republican candidate running for the White House needs only 40 percent of the Hispanic vote to win, which is what George W. Bush obtained in 2004 when he was elected for a second term.

"What Republicans don't understand is that they're not going to win the White House without the Latinos," Matt Bareto of Latino Decisions, a polling organization that makes analyses and predictions about the Hispanic vote, said during his presentation of data from the study.
I know, I know! Let's nominate Trump, Cruz, Walker or one of the other lunatics who wants to deport them. Brilliant idea!

We will not win the Hispanic vote by screaming like nativist bigots and stoking the flames of ignorance. We're going to have to accept the fact that - like it or not - these Hispanics (legal and illegal) are here to stay.

I doubt the electorate will remain the same though. I highly doubt turnout will be anywhere near as high on the dem side.

Citizens of other nations should not be deciding our elections for us. And how do you know who's going to come out and vote next November? My money's on a low turnout, barring a major terrorist attack or something.

No, no, Ann Coulter says the GOP doesn't need any of the Hispanic vote whatsoever.

I personally will stay home from the polls if it is Bush vs. Clinton. They are both bad for this country.

This is willfully dumb analysis.

From the link:

Quote:
The idea that the Republican candidate must convince 47 percent of Latinos starts from the hypothesis that whites and Asians will maintain their positions, whereas the number of blacks who vote Democratic will drop by 1 percent, since there will be no candidate of their race on the ballot, as there was in 2008 and 2012 with Barack Obama.
Obama won the Asian vote by over 70% in 2012, but Republicans actually won the Asian vote in 2014. The chance that the black vote will drop by only 1% for Democrats without a black nominee is somewhere between zero and none.
