It will be Peter Thiel who will be running for governor of California on the Republican side next cycle. Peter Thiel considering bid for California governor - POLITICO get ready for a gay, high tech, billionaire running a beautiful state which has been horribly mismanaged.
Unless you dug up the majority of Reagan's voters, along with Reagan, he wouldn't stand a chance against Brown today. The electorate in California has changed too much.
You would be surprised at how many of us are still around. I am proud to say that the first Presidential vote I ever cast was for Ronald Reagan. The last great president and the last one worth voting for.
Reagan wouldn't get past the Republican primaries in CA today. IMHO, he would be considered too moderate in comparison to what the Republican constituency wants today.
We are talking CA not Texas or OK. Not to mention he was one of the most skilled campaigners most of us have ever seen and I know I have been voting for more years than posters here have been alive or longer than most that is.
Um, Reagan was a D when he was governor. Of course at that time a D was still anti-socialist, anti-communist in its ideology.
OMG, I don't know where you get your information. He actually gave a speech at Goldwater's nomination. When Reagan got nominated 2 years later, his opponent was Brown's father.
Looking at it another way....Reagan could win in CA today. He gave amnesty to the undocumented and millions of people stayed and prospered in the U.S. because he did. He'd have the "formerly undocumented and their descendants" vote locked up.
Trump would hate him.....but Trump hates everyone who doesn't kiss his keister. He'd also hate Reagan because Reagan would be MUCH more popular then Trump.
