There is a difference between being a communist and one who has ideas derived from communism..no witch hunting going on here, no overwhelming paranoia..commenting on some issues.

Quote:
The plan was multi-faceted, and all backed by Moscow. Over a period of time, take over the media, take over the educational system, attack religion and get God out of every facet of life as possible, use minorities, labor unions, and disaffected groups to further their goals, and shift the country as far left as possible using laws, regulations, and the court system. Add to this taking over the federal courts, increasing the size and number of the social programs, make people more reliant on government (and less on God, family and local communities), and finally try to disarm the American public. Peasants with firearms were not conducive to totalitarianism. [...] In the 1950s, Soviet Premier Nikita Kruschev made the bold statement “We will bury you without firing a shot.”

The consensus here is that none of these issues are valid today?

The 10 planks link I gave is actually a link to the libertarian party and their take on how the US is leaning slowly in the wrong direction. Did anyone actually READ it? Just curious!

Communism is not dead...dying - yes. The party just got elected pres. in Cyprus and maintains offices and publications here in the US. It has been "dead" in Russia for less than 2 decades. It is still alive in N. Korea and Cuba, and Socialism is alive in China. It has been less than a century since it rose and infected Europe, less than a half a century since Chairman Mao's reign of terror (which had a death toll in the tens of millions). These fallen regimes likely have some underground of support out there.. Is it wise to write a movement like this off so fast?

I would say Hillary would be best to push Socialism, but Obama would beat her and push Communism.

What do YOU think??

Barack Hussein Obama wins this Poll hands down...!

If McCain continues the Bush economic disaster and reflects the Gramm whiner mentality then it will be interesting how the masses react after 3 more years.

Proving once again that the educational system in the US is woefully inadequate in the area of political science if so many people obviously fail to grasp the actual meaning and tenants of 'socialism' and/or 'communism'. I weep for their collective ignorance.

I challenge anyone to go and read Marx and Engels and/or study the economic and governmental structures of communist nations and then come back and say with a straight face that Obama's center-left positions are remotely communist. If you can, you are illiterate, should get a job in Hollywood, or are so blinded by either hatred or dogma that you can't see beyond the end of your nose.

I have no problem with those who are more conservative socially and/or economically stating that they disagree with Obama's positions, as long as they do so with a shred of intellect and a bit of a clue. Claiming he's a communist is neither.

Call it what you want you dumb asses. The more the Government controls, the more closer you are to socialism or communism. The constitution gaurontees the pursuit of happiness. It does not gaurantee free medical care, unemployement benifits, welfare, food stamps, homes, cars, Bling, ect. The key word here is pursuit. Compare 1980 to today. If you took away all of the freedom that we have lost since then, all in one day, There would have been a revolution. I all ready given too much of my hard earned income to a bunch of lazy ass loosers as it is. I don't need someone like Barrack taking more. By the way I do realize that it's not just the leftist liberal loosers that are taking away my freedom. The right uses national security as an excuse. The left uses the environment. Either way Barrack will do the most emmediate damage to our freedom and my wallet.

Did you see the new salute to the lord abama, where the make an O with their hands over their heads. That must be The IQ of an Obama supporter
