Well, first of all, he didn't call "Asians" "gooks".... he called the North Vietnamese "gooks."
And considering how he's subsequently had lots of contact with the Vietnamese and seems to be well on the way to reconcilation and a leader for the normalization of relations between the US and Vietnam (his captors endorsed him for president, btw)... I'd say you're getting a bit desperate.

I've heard my Dad say the word "****" on many occasions. But he was in the Vietnam war and fought in close quarters with them. Hate dies hard. My dad wasn't captured and tortured for years either. McCain probably secretly wants to tie some of his captors up and beat them with canes. I can't say that if I was in his shoes I'd be able to let that go either.

Quit bieng so obtuse! The reason that the OP said "Asians" instead of Vietnamese is now McCain is guilty of slandering not just the Vietnamese who tortured him for 5 years, but also Japanese, Chinese, Laotions, and Koreans. It was deliberatly said in that fashion so that the ignorant, uninformed people in this forum now think McCain is a racist for no reason.
