Economists think McCain would be better for stock market
Obama hurt by pledge to raise tax rates on capital gains and dividends

http://www.financialweek.com/apps/pb...963192885/1036

This is not a secret, nor is it rocket science. The Obama plan will raise taxes. a LOT! That will drive investors OUT of the US markets, which will further contribute to American economic demise.

Doubling the Cap Gains tax would devastate US companies, anyone's 401(k) plans, and will costs millions of US jobs. There is no doubt about that.

Not to mention Obama wants the United Nations to tax Americans, under his "Global Poverty Act", and he wants to send WAY more money outside of the USA to help poor countries, while the US Dollar and US economy is not doing well. How brilliant?!

Let's try not to be partisan here and look at economics: who is best to handle US economy: Obama or McCain?

Right, we would hate to have somebody be partisan, eh funday?

From your link - looks like there is not a clear consensus, fair to say??

On a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being “very good”, 12 economists gave McCain’s proposals higher marks, while nine rated the two candidates equally and eight preferred Obama’s policies, according to the poll released on Wednesday.

Do you agree with McCain we should bail out bankers and investors for stupid greedy choices with our tax payer dollars??

Mr. McCain has said the Treasury Department and Federal Reserve’s steps to shore up troubled mortgage finance companies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were correct and he hoped Congress would approve them.

Mr. Obama said any action to rescue Fannie and Freddie should be aimed at helping homeowners and not just shareholders, managers and investors.

Also from your link.

A Reuters/Zogby poll released last week showed that just 10% of Americans gave the Bush administration positive marks for its handling of the economy.

The poll also found that Mr. Obama held a 7-point lead over McCain in the presidential race, and had a small edge on the question of who would best manage the economy.

Honestly, I agree. I feel that John McCain would make the US a leading oil producer. John McCain would make us more environmentally responsible by bringing back nuclear power with a vengeance. John McCain, faced with a surely Democratic congress, would not be able to alter the tax system at all.

I really hope McCain will be elected. And I'm a registered Democrat. Kinda sad, lol.... but IMO the Dems have not produced an acceptable candidate since Bill Clinton. Hillary would've been great.

Raising capital gains taxes is more of a problem than many folks realize. Most folks who declare capital gains have investment options allowing them to defer income, and taxes too. Placing money in instruments such as ADRs or Index Funds can allow investors to diversify, and wait for more favorable investment tax situations in the future.

BTW, this would significantly hurt state tax revenue too.

The link is "better for U.S. stock market" but your thread's title is "better for the U.S. economy." Another conservabot distortion by the McMinions.

Reminds me of an old James Brown song:

"hey country, didn't say what you meant
just changed the brand new funky president
stock market going up, jobs going down
there ain't no funky job to be found
tax keeps going up
i changed from a glass, now i drink from a paper cup
gettin' bad"

McCain sure ain't funky but things will keep "gettin' bad" even if the stock market bumps up a little bit. Compare the rise in the stock market during Bush's term to the change in median income. Were these two things proportional?

What you will never see is any liberal who understand the economy.

They believe is re distribution of wealth which destroys growth and new jobs, Obama wants to hand lay off slips out by the millions with his stupid cap tax and he wants to tax us more, repeal the Bush tax cuts and add more onto them.

Obama the liar just said to us that he was tired of sending all of our American dollars overseas, then turns around and lies to us about how he wants to help the poor countries in Africa and other places with our money.

Time for him to sit down and shut up, the more he speaks the more lies he comes up with.

$$obama$$ is bad news for the AMERICAN economy and good news for other UN countries who love to see this nut steal from us and give it to other nations.

We need out of the UN and Obama out of our country!

So yes, McCain is experienced and will grow our economy by putting money in the hands of companies who HIRE people for a paycheck without taxing them to death.

Obamas plan would move the April tax day to July, think about it, Mr Tax and Spend Obama plans on us working until July just to pay our taxes.

He will destroy America folks, not just by globalizing us but by sending more of our money to other nations and we all know what nations he plans on helping!
