It was great seeing the turnout at his rally last night. What a diverse and enthusiastic group of people.

Good. Glad to see the hunger for real change, and real liberty, is still out there.

This primary season has proved to me that we'll never have a libertarian-minded president in office -- considering the way Paul was dismissed as a kook and the way the networks ignored him and kept him out of the debates -- but it doesn't mean the fight isn't worth fighting.

It's clear we're probably not on the same side of politics but I do agree with you on this! In the future the American people will have to fight hard so that all legitimate political voices can be heard. And Ron Paul was without doubt a *very* legitimate candidate! All his supporters and he should be very proud of what they've accomplished by not being intimidated and staying in the fight.
Hopefully, future candidates will use his model and do the same!

I enjoyed this excerpt from the Washington Times.

Washington Times - McCain in talks with Ron Paul for backing

Quote:
Some conservatives, including several prominent Republicans, privately support Mr. Paul's aim, which they see as taking the party back from its neoconservative wing and restoring it to a tradition of limited-government conservatism.

He was asked why he was holding "training events" - one of which consists mostly of music groups performing - during the convention..

"Because this is where the action is," Mr. Paul said with a smile.
Seems pretty clear that there are those even within conventional Republican circles who see the need to return to traditional conservative politics. Ron Paul certainly "gets it" when it comes to courting the youth, something that was very much lacking at the RNC

I know, its funny that a 72 yr old man can be the key to the Republican youth movement.

He is such a good thing for the Republican party, and they just dont get it.

One you will notice about Ron Paul when he goes into a monologue, he discusses things like policy, political philosophy, the connections between economic growth and social condition, the responsibility of a patriot not just to country but to concepts such as liberty and freedom. He requires that the listener participate, become informed and engage, as opposed to blind obedience of party faithful.

It is from this requirement that people think, engage, and put forth effort where he loses many people as they are just lazy and would rather pull a lever once and have "their guy" fix the world for them.

If Repubican's could set aside their single issue voting blocs of "God, Gays, and Guns" and work on bringing back into the fold the fiscal conservatives and smaller government types and even Libertarians who comprise a large chunk of independents, McCain could have won this election soundly in my opinion.

The neoconservative/neoliberals who infected the Republican Party for the past few years are on their way out the door and headed over to Democratic Party circles, it is just too bad that when McCain came to the fork in the road to choose being a real "maverick" and courting the old political establishment in Washington and most notably neoconservtive types, he chose the latter.

Well there is always 2012, as Republicans can write this election off, save for a nuclear bomb going off in LA or Chicago or something.
