I guess that would depend on how far back your historical perspective goes.
I recommend that you not go back much farther than about 1960.
Going back to the southern strategy is far enough and an indictment of the GOP itself..for since then the Republican party has purposely appealed to the racist element of our society.
It's only now, after large defeats in the last two election cycles and seeing Obama's success, that they have decided to install a token black as their chairman...who do they think they're fooling?
