Although he constructively criticized him (by first pointing out his service), Letterman didn`t spare him whatsoever afterwards and seemed genuinely upset. I almost felt bad for McCain and i expect this to really hurt his campaign.

No sympathy here for McCain, after breaking a commitment with an excuse that was obviously BS, he deserves what he gets.
i really love how all of you are so blind to reality. what is happening is a VERY big deal. if wall street shuts down, that means our country will go into a depression overnight.
the first day new york will lay off 20% of its population since they rely on wall street, hence the wallstreet to mainstreet and this will trickle down over the next week. unemployment will skyrocket and banks wont be able to give out loans to any consumers or other banks. imagine all the stock brokerages and realty firms closing. just for starters, then insurance company's and shipping companys. a lot of country's are invested in our economy as well and they will be hit hard too.
Letterman is a far left loon and always lets his bias show. I haven't watched him in many years. If he likes a candidate, I would vote for the other guy. He's just terrible.

I am awake....please tell me what Obama and Mccain can do in DC. PLease enlighten us. What can they add that economic leaders and the other 500 people working on this cannot? I mean other than photo ops, rhetoric and BS?

world war 2 is what brought us out last time 12 years later....
While I know it's a serious problem, it's also become the latest centerpiece of typical Republican fear-mongering, I guess terrorism & homeland security have lost their cachet.

Letterman likes McCain, who's appeared on his show numerous times. Dave almost always lets Johnny get the best of the chuckles on each appearance. And that's precisely why McCain keeps returning. Except last night. He's suddenly aware that we have a crisis. And his cancellation last night is supposed to be a step in solving this vexing problem. Even though he has no real iput into the $700 billion bail-out.
You see, Mccain is not a member of the Senate Banking and Finance Committee. All he will be able to do is posture publicly (maybe w/o mentioning the "fundamentals of the economy") and then vote up or down on the final bill. A bill he didn't help to craft.

they can voice their opinion and listen to what others have to say, to try to come to a conclusion. this is a very serious situation. the committee only approves the bill to go to congress to get voted on. they are ALL involved.
what if agreement isn't made? who are you going to blame then? when millions of people overnight are unemployed. you think the 50 million without health care is bad, what happens when its 50 million unemployed by the end of next month?

wake up
10 days days ago you said it wasn't really a big deal, you expected this.....now it's a really big deal and we should support the candidate who's appears to be panicking?
Letterman is a riot...lol He seems to be genuinely hurt by his hero treating him this way. He does ask a good question - why can't the Governor get out there and campaign?
