right now we pay 350 billion a year for medicaid (for health care for the poor) and 400 billion for medicare. (health care for seniors). obama's proposal involves higher government taxes, higher government spending, and more government regulation starting with a new payroll tax, estimated at around 7%, that employers would have to pay, unless they paid 75% of the premiums for an employee health plan specified by the government. (health care for seniors). that is coming out of your pocket!

obama wants to spend 75 billion of your dollars on world debt forgiveness.

obama wants to spend 845 billion of your dollars on poverty reduction in the world.

obama wants to spent 800 billion on the bailout as a starting point, with the potential to hit 1 trillion dollars. (refer to my post on obama's direct knowledge of the bailout with wall street in march of this year approximately 6 months before the bailout was passed!)

obama said that he would fight terrorism in afghanistan and pakistan, with no price tag component yet.

if you just look at these plans alone, there is no way he can increase the corporate tax rate to cover this so guess who ends up paying! right now exxon already pays (by itself) more taxes than 50% of the bottom taxpayers in this country. who will pay for all of this new spending on social programs, not counting the social programs up and running already? factor in illegal immigration and you have even higher numbers with obama promising the road to citizenship and all of the costs associated with those social services that would be provided. these factors do not even include the money that he is promising to put into getting jobs up and running again. this is an impossible plan, especially in a troubled economy!

i do not have a specific link on these numbers. i had to pull them in by subjects. the 845 billion is obama's global poverty act that he submitted to congress. i am sure that i am leaving some spending out so maybe there will be additions. the part about obama being involved in the bailout with wall street in march i got from an investigative wall street report by pam martens in march 2008.

And he has stated that not all the programs he would like to see enacted will be due to our current economic crisis. That is why I was curious where you were getting the information from.

You're right! There's simply not enough money to do the things Obama wants to do (thank god!)
But you realize that the President has no power to spend a penny--it's CONGRESS who actually spends our money--and this Congress is going to be the downfall of America. Vote them out. Lets get some term limits in place! We need to take back this country from these power-hungry, money spending people! We've let them get out of hand--the PEOPLE need to INSIST on getting back to basics, and the Constitution!

Health Care - The Real Medicare Crisis Ahead (http://www.ncpa.org/prs/rel/2004/20040604bnr.htm - broken link)

The trustees found that our obligations to future retirees are unfunded by a staggering $62 trillion. Add that to an earlier estimate of unfunded liabilities for the Social Security pension system, and the figure rises to $72 trillion," Sen. Joe Lieberman, D-Conn., said in a recent Financial Times editorial. "It is hard for most people to grasp those astronomical figures," he wrote. "They far exceed the entire net worth of the United States. But, as a nation, we must urgently grasp them -- and act. Americans cannot afford to ignore this reality. Each year that we do nothing, this 'entitlement gap' will grow by $2 trillion."

You are right. Congress is where the American public should direct their attention, that is where the real power resides. The President has a considerable amount of power, but if you really want to affect things you need to vote for the person in Congress who can make a difference (collectively, of course).
