Therefore we should give those who ride in the wagon higher wages so they can afford to pay those taxes also? How about that? The reason they don't pay the same taxes is because they hardly earn enough to keep food on their table. Duh!!

There are few states that have none of the above. In fact, there are only a few states w/o a sales tax. Delaware and Oregon are the two that I can think of right off the bat, I believe there are several others. Most states w/o a sales tax rely heavily on property taxes, which you pay in rent unless you live in a govt. owned housing project. Anyone who buys gasoline pays gas tax.

Just going through the comments on this thread. Yes, you are correct. I told some people on soc sec to apply, even if they didn't file in 2007. They were very thankful, since they didn't realize they were eligible.

The bottom 50% of the wage earners in this country pay less than 3% of all taxes collected

Figuratively speaking:
In this country, for every two people who earn a paycheck, one person pulls the wagon while the other person rides in the wagon.
Yes, but if you had the actual AMOUNT paid by each of these groups, you would see the poorer you are, the greater percent of your money goes to taxes.
The rich can only spend so much on housing and food, clothing and luxuries. Most of their income is invested. They don't need or see it.

The less fortunate do without in order to have the roof over their heads and food and medical care. Sometimes they forego medical care. They pay taxes, too, but they often make sacrifices to do so.

Now, if you want to talk about responsible parenting and not having more than one kid if you cannot afford to rear them properly or if you are accepting welfare, I will understand.
I do object tarring a whole group of people with one brush, though. I also believe a healthy democracy is dependent on upward mobility. That has stopped under Bush. In fact, we are regressing into banana republic mode, with a few very wealthy and the rest in poverty.

That is a situation ripe for revolutions.
We, in America, do NOT want that style of life.
None of us do.
Not me, not you.

Interesting little tid bit
