More than 1 million people have now cast a ballot in North Carolina's early voting, surpassing the total number who voted early four years ago.
Data released Sunday by the State Board of Elections shows 1,078,710 have voted at early sites.
Of the early voters, 58 percent are registered Democrats, although the GOP argues that it can win over some of the conservative Democrats in the state who differ in ideology from their national counterparts. Just 25 percent of those voting so far are registered Republicans.
Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama has encouraged his supporters to vote early to ensure that as many ballots as possible are in before the crush of Election Day. Source (http://www.wcnc.com/sharedcontent/APStories/stories/D942H0Q02.html - broken link)
Guys...if McCain has waited this long to drop some big hidden scary bomb about Obama, he's waited a little too long. Not much more to learn about the guy in the next week, sorry to disappoint you.
Is there anyone on this forum who can just be happy that for once, large numbers of Americans are voting. Does it have to be about bashing a candidate?
Sooner or later the truth will come out about Obama. And we will be in big trouble trying to figure out what to do about it. There is something bad wrong with all these Obama mysteries.

How is it bashing to let people know who this man is? I want to know about his alliances and so do a good many people.
McCain has nothing. He's short on ideas, short on time, and losing support. Palin didn't pan out. He's lost three debates. His VP lost her debate. He's losing in the polls, reeling from an economy that reflects his shared economic philosophy with Bush. He's not doing well in states he thought he had a chance in: PA, OH, MI, CO, NM, WI, NH, ME, FL, NC, GA, VA, MO, and NV. His VP is a laughing stock on SNL. Her approval ratings are tanking and she's considered an idiot and certainly unqualified. Better for podunk. He can't match Obama's ads so he's pulled out of states he's needed like MI. His ads are all negative and he has been called on their inaccuracies. What a pathetic political figure he has turned into. Obviously a loser.
Far cry from June and July when a calm, confident McCain stated that he was taking the high road and that he was focusing on the issues, not negativity. How quickly it turned for him when he realized that the only way to gain any traction was to attack Obama. Hillary tried the "kitchen sink" and it didn't work. McCain didn't learn from that lesson. Major tactical blunder aside from picking Palin.
Shouldn't throw stones when you live in a glass house, and McCain should've known that in the glass house that he lived in being tied to Bush, there was no chance that he could deal with Obama's stones. This on top of Obama being far more qualified, more intelligent, more dignified, with greater poise and integrity, superior and more flexible in thought, far more articulate and inspirational, far more inclusive, possessing greater depth and range, able to listen to both sides, legally trained, far more educated, a better husband, and a devoted father.
I'm enjoying the end of this campaign. Looking foward to the Obama administration.
