I also thought of this. Why do they call him black when he is actually biracial? I think it's because race is something you identify yourself as. It's interesting though. I'd like to hear why or if Obama calls himself black.
This goes all the way back to slavery, if you were known to have even a ounce of black in you, you were considered black. Whites felt the person was tainted of some sort.
Much has not changed today. Even though Obama is half white, most only see a black man.

Because he's using race to get votes which I find disgusting.
Good enough reason for me. I call myself Irish because that's what my mother's ancestors were. But there are a lot of nationalities in my blood. I'll bet that's true for most of us.
Most dont care what color he is, and those who see him as black do so simply because he called himself black..
So if someone asked you to give a description of Senator Obama, how would you go about doing that?
"well, he's a tall, slim, bi-racial guy, with big ears".... hahahahahahahah!!
In the world we live in today, when MOST people see him, they see a black man.
Yes, the fact is he is bi-racial. But he LOOKS blacks and hence, to most people, HE'S BLACK.
Can you imagine if Obama went around saying he was a white boy?? hahahahah
