Is it worth it for bill to give up his Governor spot, where you can stay forever, at least in theory, for a spot like Commerce secretary? I can see Napalitano taking the Homeland Security spot because it has a lot of visibilty.

Are you kidding? Commerce Secretary's not going to be a boring job in this administration and he'll have plenty of visibility. Among other things, he'll be deeply involved with Obama's ambitious Public Works Program. Richardson's gotta be excited about that, it's a huge challenge in itself.

But that's just the tip of the iceberg. Check out the full job description:

The Secretary of Commerce deals with international trade, economic growth, and technological advancement. The Department provides a wide variety of programs through the competitive free enterprise system. A major goal of this position is to increase America's competitiveness in the world economy. Commerce Secretary also administers programs to prevent unfair foreign trade competition; provides social and economic statistics and analyses for business and government planners; provides research and support for the increased use of scientific, engineering, and technological development; works to improve our understanding and benefits of the Earth's physical environment and oceanic resources; grants patents and registers trademarks; develops policies and conducts research on telecommunications; administers federal policy and programs affecting the industrial and commercial segments of the national economy; provides assistance to promote domestic economic development; and assists in the growth of minority businesses.

Not only that, the Secretary of State doesn't have to go to endless fundraisers, county fairs, photo ops with state beauty pageant contestants, kiss babies, or the babies' mothers.

Default Whats a higher title - Governor or Commerce Secretary?

It also depends on the State involved, here in Illinois it would be:

Cabinet Minister
.
.
.
.
Used Car Salesman
Village Idiot
Parade Pooper Scooper
Governor
