In your opinion, should our POTUS and Congress rethink this whole stimulus package ordeal??? Should they just send out checks to everyone, (which should be around $3,000 per person), OR, should the stimulus package with all the projects/pork stay in place. Or how about a combination of both?

IMO we need help NOW, not in 2010, 2011 or 2012, which some of these projects wont even start until then. OTOH, many of the Infrastructure projects are needed (roads, bridges, ports, railroads, airports, electric grid, water, etc).
What we DON'T need is $300 million going to STD prevention, and some of the other POINTLESS projects proposed.

Your thoughts?

The money for a stimulus does not exist.

All this does is throw more huge debt at the debt problem. Instead it's time to slash spending, learn to live within our means, accept that much of the wealth we thought we had was only an illusion. The longer we prolong this, delay the inevitable, the worse it will be.

most of this money doesnt exist anyway... and we are never going to get rid of the massive deficit of the US... so give us money, tho i think instead of a lump sum all at once, it should be spread out over a period of time... a lump sum to everyone is only going to give a slight boost, after which everything will continue down the toilet, instead i think everyone should receive 300 or so a month for a couple of months, that way there is continuous money going into the market, and that being said employers shall have the money to actually hire new people, and more jobs will mean more money to buy, which means more jobs... i know its unrealistic my idea, however it would be the best approach to this situation imho, the resession we are in wasnt made overnight, nor will it be fixed in that amount of time

With the Dems in control, we can kiss goodbye any plan for fiscal responsibility. Cripe, they have already loaded up the bill with stupid crap, including landscaping and redecorating federal buildings! Sorry, but they can make do with what they have and they should be EMBARRASSED to be padding the bill with such things when Americans are losing their homes in droves! But, they're not embarrassed -- it's the way they have always operated and they feel they've got a mandate. A neophyte president doesn't seem inclined yet to stop them.

So, they might as well give out stimulus checks to the people and maybe some money for infrastructure and education. But a behemoth Dem. bill would just be loaded with fluff.

I'm a Black Democrat but I have to applaud the Republican party on this one.
There is too much pork. It seems that many on the Hill were just waiting for Bush's term to expire so that they could cash in.
Even comedian John Stewart has a better plan (Trickle-Up) than this mess.
Hopefully, the Reps. will get rid of some of these pay-backs that are disquised as a stimulus package.

To be fair they should take 800 Billion(the same amount in the CEO's WELFARE check) and distribute it to any American citizen over the age of eighteen who makes less than 100,000.00 a year.

Let US decide what we need.

Yes, but make sure they are LEGAL citizens who actually have a JOB, or recently lost one. We shouldn't be handing out checks to those that already stand in the welfare lines or immigration office.
