Absurd.

Specter's problem is not with moderates, it is with CONSERVATIVES and that is WHY he could not win a republican primary.
You don't listen do you?? I'm talking about Specter's base leaving the GOP. Moderate and Rockefeller type Republicans especially in suburban Philly.

Specter never was well liked among conservatives in Pennsylvania, but he was able to survive Primary challenges due to his suburban Philly base as his support from moderate Republicans was enough to hold off the conservatives who were not happy with him. However, that moderate to Rockefeller Republican suburban Philly base Specter always counted on in order to cancel out the conservatives who were angry with him are no longer there. They are no longer registered Republicans. The Republican Party in PA simply no longer has that moderate faction in which Specter counted on, they were chased away and left the party.

Absolute nonsense, total and complete.

Those moderates in the republican party are still there, they haven't switched over to the democrat party and they have left Arlen due to his votes on the Failed Stimulus, obamacare and other NON-conservative/republican votes.

They are no longer there. Over the past few years the major suburban Philly counties (Montgomery, Delaware, Bucks, Chester) have seen a huge GOP exodus in registration and even larger Democratic gains.

For example dating back to the 04 Primaries, the four main suburban counties have more than 87,000 fewer registered Republicans now than they did six years ago, and 195,000 more registered Democrats. Once you include the city of Philly proper the numbers go up even more.

Absolutely do not try to confuse the OP with facts, especially about an area you are very familiar with and she is not.

I have to agree. It's pointless. He's arguing with what is essentially a volunteer press release writer for the Republican Party.

Face it, the entire country is changing thanks to the failures of the Obama administration and the worse congress in American history lead by the demwits of Pelosi and Reid.
Thank you very well said, Some of us were never gullable, unfortunately so many are very much still the same gullable people. Obama, all part of a Master Plan, for those that cannot see it, you must not be able to see. His actions, the things he says, come on now, you have to see thru this clown.

Amazing how every race has a pat excuse from the leftists, either claiming they know more about a states politics than the actual professional strategists for the party, or the excuse about quirky politics for a given state.

You haven't given any facts, just your opinion.

It is a fact that the GOP does much better in portions of western PA than they use to. It is a fact it has been trending in that direction prior to Obama being President. It is a fact despite a decent sized win nationally and in the state that McCain won Murtha's district. It is a fact the Democrats have made huge gains in eastern Pennsylvania, especially suburban Philly.
